Job DescriptionI. General Summary
The Zone Mechanic Apprentice performs all corrective repairs and preventative maintenance on equipment such as patient rooms, patient beds, ice machines, induction units, and refrigerators.
II. Principal Responsibilities and Tasks
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. These are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified.
- Under the supervision of a Zone or Support Mechanic, assists with the PM's every month on equipment such as patient rooms, patient beds, ice machines, induction units, and refrigerators
- Performs all corrective repairs in a timely manner and correctly the first time
- Performs frontline and routine maintenance in assigned areas.
- Focuses work towards customer satisfaction, taking the time to assess customer needs and making self-available for questions and advice
- Works independently on low level repairs and preventative maintenance, when help is needed, seeks a resource to provide necessary knowledge to complete low level repairs and preventive maintenance.
III. Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED, required. Vocational/Technical degree (preferred).
- 1 years’ experience with proven ability to correctly use hand tools (preferred).
- 1-2 years’ experience, with a specialized area of knowledge/trade (preferred).
IV. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must possess critical thinking and problem solving skills, and be able to function independently.
- Advanced knowledge in supply chain procurement and inventory management best practices
- Strong communicator both verbally and written
- Maintain a calm demeanor in a high stress environment
