About the Job
A warm, busy family relocating to Manhasset, Long Island, seeks four live-in housekeeper/nannies to provide seamless support on a rotational week on/off schedule, with two housekeeper/nannies on duty per rotation. There will be approximately 40hrs (or just over) of work required per week.
Responsibilities:Applicants will be responsible for ensuring the 7000 sq ft home remains immaculate and organised at all times, and should also be confident in providing some care for children (5-year-old boy and 2-year-old twins), as well as with cooking. Duties will include:
Housekeeping:
- All general duties to include vacuuming, mopping, dusting, tidying and organising
- Laundry and ironing
- Regular deep cleaning
- Receiving and returning of parcels and deliveries
- Dealing with contractors and vendors when required
- Daily spot cleaning of kitchen and reception areas
- Bi-weekly changing of bedlinen and towels
- Daily cleaning of bathrooms
- Online ordering for supplies and groceries
- Meal planning and cooking
- General errands
- Regular inventory check for all grocery items, cleaning supplies, and any other relevant household items
Childcare:
- Collaborating with, working alongside, and constantly staying in touch with Mom, who is actively involved and well-informed on a daily basis
- Providing support and back-up to the Monday through Friday nanny
- Maintaining a clean and safe environment for the children to play and learn in, ensuring that their space remains at a high standard of cleanliness by following a daily list of cleaning tasks, as well as a weekly cleaning schedule
- Maintaining tidy and organized spaces for the use of the girls and other family members, and doing so in a timely manner
- Maintaining inventory and ensuring stock rotation of supplies and materials needed for childcare.
No specific qualifications are required, however the following experience and characteristics would be appreciated:
- Previous roles in high-end hotels
- Childcare responsibilities that have included implementing gentle boundaries and baby-led weaning
- Working as part of a domestic team in a private home
- Cooking for a family
- A caring and nurturing personality, and a love for children
Candidates will need to be flexible and happy to work as part of a team to support Mum and the family wherever needed. Ideally, candidates should be:
- Native Spanish-speakers (the family speak Spanish within the home)
- Competent speaking English
- Confident drivers
- Confident cooks, happy to follow recipes and learn new ones
- Hard working
- Fit and active, able to manage a large home that includes a gym, pool, home office, multiple staircases and, of course, able to keep up with active and energetic young children
- Fantastic team players, with a pitch-in mentality and a positive outlook
- Comfortable working within a structured environment and open to direction, feedback and with working under the guidance of Mum
- Adaptable and flexible, and able to step up during busier periods (holidays, when extended family are visiting, when the parents are away or the family is travelling, for example)
- From $35/hr, DOE
