Description
Working under general supervision, the Technician will be responsible for many aspects of the Zebrafish facility’s upkeep as well as participating in day-to-day operations of theGlasswashfacility.
This position will be responsible for day-to-day operations and maintenance, husbandry and record keeping, training facility users, facility billing and contributing to research projects for the users of the facility.Specific responsibilities include:
1.Demonstratecompassion for and dedication to the care and use of zebrafish in the facility.
2. Conduct basic operations of the zebrafish facility (including stock andmaintainequipment,maintainfish database and common stock lines, troubleshoot, billing, feeding & cleaning, etc.).
- Organize the weekend and holiday feeding schedules
3. Trainothers in facility use and standard operating procedures.
4.Maintaineffective working relationships and address the potential and current needs of customers. This will include coordinating andassistingwith animal husbandry related to research projects upon request.
5. Perform other techniques such as genotyping, microscopy, and animal-related work, etc.
6.Pick up wash and sterilize glassware, pipettes,etcas neededdailyfor the research labs.
7.Prepare and enter billing into the system.
8. Assistwith all aspects cleaning out laboratory and office spaces as directed and supervised by the Facility manager.
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
Associate's degree (Preferred)
Experience
General experienceand knowledge of lab and safety procedures (Required)
General experienceworking in a team-oriented environment (Required)
