Trinity is currently hiring a full-time YOUTH Engagement Specialist to work as part of the prevention team to develop and provide a variety of positive mentored programming to youth ages 13-18 in the evenings and on Saturdays. The Youth Engagement Specialist will engage youth in structured and intentional relationships that will help them build character, change their attitudes, beliefs, and actions, preventing delinquency and promoting their safety.
What will you be doing as a Youth Engagement Specialist?
•Establish and maintain professional relationships with clients, service providers, funding sources and other staff.
•Complete service plans with youth.
•Develop a leadership council to help guide shared decision-making regarding the evening program activities to achieve shared ownership and empowerment.
•Participate in case reviews and other service provider meetings.
•Plan daily youth activities to support their positive social and emotional development.
•Provide transportation for program participants.
•Advocate for and support youth as they interact with justice, education, employment, health and social service systems.
•Implement stipend program as directed ensuring the distribution and documentation of all participants' stipends.
•As part of a team, provide case management, crisis intervention and make and coordinate referrals to ancillary services.
•Maintain regular communication with all prevention team service providers to ensure seamless continuity of care.
•Plan and facilitate psycho-educational groups.
•As part of a team, complete service plans and treatment goals with clients
.
•Participate in staff development opportunities, in-service trainings and contribute to the program's continuous improvement.
•Ensure timely completion and submission of all required paperwork.
•Additional functions as determined by the Prevention Director.
What are your skills and experience?
•AA, BA preferred and minimum of one-year direct experience working with at risk youth individuals and families from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
•Ability to demonstrate an understanding of clinical concepts focusing on strengths.
•Ability to display critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
•Must have a clean and valid NYS Driver's License.
Salary - $45,000 - $50,000
