Job title: Location Manager
Pay: Salary starts at $84,872 - $106,090 a year Depending on Experience + Profit Sharing
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm
Location: Tigard, Oregon
The Yard Manager is responsible for utilizing the company's FACE values, mission, and vision as guides in order to lead their employees and reach the yard's goals. This is accomplished through servant leadership and managing of the team.
This position is also responsible for implementing operational strategies and objectives to ensure the yard's goals. As a manager, this position is expected to be involved in their community in some fashion, set time aside for self-improvement and always strive to be a better leader.
This position directly reports to theRegional Operations Manager. The Yard Manager interacts daily with all yard employees (in the store and outside yard) and customers. This position interacts regularly with local sales managers, corporate employees (Central & Local Purchasing Department, Account Management Team, Sales Managers, Human Resources, IT Department, and the PARR Leadership Team) as well as interacting regularly with vendor representatives and industry associates out of our Tigard, OR Location.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- 3 years prior supervisory/management experience
- Knowledge of management principles, practices, and production methodologies
- Knowledge of lumber and plywood purchasing principles, practices, and protocols
- Knowledge of home and commercial construction principles, practices, and protocols
- Knowledge of the effects of "market conditions" upon the wood products industry
- Must be able to operate personal computer, smartphone, scanner, and any other equipment necessary for the job
- Must be able to type 30+ WPM
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Class C driver's license or reliable alternative transportation required
- Willingness to commute and/or relocate
- Ability to identify a broad range of building product materials, their grades, allowable tolerances and application techniques
Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership
- Supervise and direct the workforce at the yard & within the precut areas
- Supports both the Truss Manager and Millwork Manager on all activities as it relates to the facility as a whole
- Identify and respond to the need for personnel changes at the yard
- Manage day-to-day activities of employees from other departments assigned to your location
- Continually evaluate and, as necessary, encourage change in the policies and procedures related to yard operations
- Works well with all departments within PARR
- Promotes, supports, and utilizes other divisions under PARR's umbrella for the good of the whole
- Supports and follows PARR's brand standards
- Recognize opportunities for improvement, turns that quickly into decisive, confident, and proactive action
- Demonstrates confidence and carries self as a leader of the organization
- Coaches and delegates financial reporting, striving to build business acumen with team

People Development
- Identify and articulate performance expectations to employees
- Assist as needed in the performance evaluations of employees from other departments assigned to your location
- Create and maintain a well-rounded staff through cross training, open communications and continuing education with yard, precut, millwork and truss employees
- Utilizes the PARR University program and supports the training ecosystem, providing adequate time and space for participants regardless of business volume
- Current with employee evaluations
- Follows and utilizes company attendance policy as a tool
- Ensures that all new hires complete the 90-day new hire schedule appropriately and attend new hire orientation
- Utilizes performance plans as a tool as needed, utilizes DM
- Creates team driven environment, where the team is working towards a common goal
- Understands strengths/weaknesses of everyone on team (utilize the first, work to improve the second)
- Understands enough of each position to teach as well as substitute when needed

Business
- Enforce all company policies
- Achieve yard's annual profit projections
- Ensures merchandising programs are implemented
- Continually update product knowledge and selling techniques
- Maintain corporate guidelines and criteria for customer service
- Ensure an appropriate level of inventory is maintained at the facility to handle volume, working with both sales and purchasing teams to forecast increases or decreases in volume
- Trains yard team in inventory process
- Completes 24-month Dead Stock write-down per company policy
- Trains and leads the inventory management team at the location and trains them in applicable tasks of Cycle Counting, Negative QTY research, adjustments, and SPC report management
- Leads the 6-week physical inventory preparation cycle and completes the weekly checklists
- Collaborates with both Central and Local Purchasing to align inventory needs with timing of available loads
- Identifies and proactively manages slow moving and dead stock
- Prepare, monitor and control annual budget for the yard
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with customers and vendors
- Ensures equipment operators are trained in all aspects of safe and efficient vehicle use, as well as properly completing daily pre/post trip inspections
- Promptly calls/emails the support teams back when they reach out
- Walks new hires through benefit enrollment and knows eligibility basics
- Works with HR on PINs and Reviews
- Hires and onboards correctly and timely with all proper processes and paperwork
- Understands and uses proper DOT requirements
- Follows random drug testing protocol
- Participates in the Inventory Exchange Program as an (Assistant) Visiting Manager
- Reports all accidents/incidents promptly using PARR standard procedures
- Completes preventative maintenance for all equipment in accordance with Fleet Manager guidelines and notifies them of issues affecting fleet safety, performance, or Customer support
- Ensure vendors are providing service in-line with negotiated service-notify fleet manager if not
- Participates in inventory Exchange Program as a Lead Visiting Manager
- Understands the definition of a Resolved and an Unresolved Variance, and uses knowledge to improve results
- Special order report is maintained as outlined by Company policy
- Negative quantity report is consistently maintained in a manner that occurrences are measured in lines rather than pages
- Dead stock is dealt with proactively prior to the 24-month deadline in a manner that results in the highest return possible to the Company
- Review daily and monthly reports to identify and correct problems in a timely manner related to invoicing, inventory, payroll (hours of service), and sales transactions
- Assist customers at point-of-sale, as needed
- Arranges community involvement for the yard by becoming involved with organizations that focus on improving areas of the community
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with customers
- Sells product to residential and commercial contractors as needed
Safety
- Conduct/monitor accident investigations
- Team members always wear high visibility/proper uniform
- Works with Ops Lead to review daily equipment inspection reports for all fleet equipment, and ensures necessary maintenance and repairs are completed in a timely manner
- Maintains a comfortable and safe working environment for all employees
- Works with yard leaders and truss and millwork managers to proactively address safety issues and brings them to the attention of the proper department
- Team always demonstrates consistency in following all company's safety protocols
- Ensures that there are the appropriate number of First Aid and AED certified team members
- Ensures safety committee meetings occur monthly, members are properly trained, and appropriate documents are uploaded to shared folder
- Ensures yard follows proper and timely reporting of all necessary accident and claim reports
- Utilizes DashCam information as a tool to coach continuous improvement with driver team
- Works with Ops Lead to ensure maintenance and repair of all equipment
- Ensure that the team keeps the facility in excellent, organized shape
Communication

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to work indoors in a normal office environment for an entire day
- Must be able to grasp, talk, hear, and operate a computer and keyboard
- Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds and carry objects 50 feet
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Must be able to drive a vehicle when necessary
- Both local and overnight travel may be required
