About the Job
- Set up, testing, documentation of results and occasional troubleshooting (failure analysis) of crystal and optical components for incoming and in-process QC.
- Creates requisitions for incoming customer supply materials.
- Creates work orders to the floor shop.
- Maintain and replenish current Kanban items to meet customers' demand.
- Complete required paperwork for the moving parts and materials and ensures all shop order steps are completed and initialed before closing out shop orders.
- Determines test specifications, methods and procedures from drawings.
- Supports the continuous improvement effort with process improvement recommendations.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Ability to work on assignments that are at times complex in nature where considerable judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations. Required to enter test data into the appropriate databased. Necessitates experience in testing (digital and/or analog) systems. Ability to read complicated drawings and utilize mathematics, handbook formulas, and a variety of precision testing and measuring instruments.
EDUCATION/LEARNING EXPERIENCE:
- High School graduate. Some college math highly desirable.
EQUIPMENT USED:
- Interferometer, Autocollimator, optical comparator, microscope, micrometer, vernier calipers, surface profilometer, various gages, spectrophotometer, other laser-based metrology.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 5 years of optical fabrication and/or inspection/testing experience with challenging materials.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:
- Good shop math ability.
- Good visual acuity
- Good hand-eye coordination
- Ability to handle small fragile components
- Good organizational skills and attention to details
- Able to understand prints and translate to component fabrication.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work to tight time scales and multitask
- Ability to function within a team environment; collaborate, and interact with all manufacturing operations departments
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Ability to read drawings
