OVERVIEW
The corporate paralegal/legal assistant is responsible for performing corporate legal tasks, working on legal projects and providing administrative support to attorneys.
REPORTING
General: Firm management
Projects: Assigning attorneys
RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary
- Assist assigned attorneys in creating legal documents
- Communicate with filing agent as to corporate filings (e.g., in connection with formations, dissolutions, UCC-1 filings)
- Maintenance of corporate records
- Assist with filings with the IRS, and other regulatory bodies
- Perform research (including on EDGAR)
- Organize, proofread and manage documents (responsible for version control)
- Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication with clients, outside vendors, governmental authorities and other parties
- Prepare and send correspondence to clients, outside counsel, etc.
- Promote effective work practices and work as a team member
- Perform billing, as needed
Secondary
- Back-up other support staff in the event of absences or work overflow
- Back-up receptionist in event of absences or when need arises
- Perform all other tasks as reasonably requested by firm management and/or attorneys
SKILLS
This position requires proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint and advanced Word skills including Styles, formatting documents and Tables of Contents; enjoy being a team player as well as work independently; be well organized; exhibit a positive attitude; pay attention to detail; and have excellent organizational skills. German language skills desired. Knowledge of Westlaw a plus.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certification required
2-3+ years of general corporate experience desired
Salary commensurate with experience.
