Technical Writer and Editor

MUST:
Experienced Technical Writer and Editor
3+ years of experience in technical writing or technical editing
Familiarity with government writing style guides and federal acquisition procedures
Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously
Understanding of document version control and collaboration tools
Ability to engage with technical and executive teams for content acquisition
Attention to detail and accuracy
Proficiency in using tools for technical writing and editing and Microsoft Office Suite
Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and version control systems (e.g., Git)
DUTIES:
Gather, analyze, and compose complex technical information ensuring the use of proper technical terminology
Translate technical information into clear, readable documents suitable for both technical and non-technical personnel
Write and edit technical content accordingly
Prepare or commission graphics and illustrations to enhance technical writing
Apply knowledge of government writing style guides (e.g., Plain Language Guidelines, Federal Plain Language Guidelines, or agency-specific guidelines) to ensure compliance with official communication standards.
Collaborate with subject matter experts, engineers, and project managers to create accurate and user-friendly documentation
Conduct thorough research to understand complex topics and convey them effectively to diverse audiences
Review and edit technical documents for consistency, clarity, and adherence to organizational standards
Check compliance with Section 508 accessibility standards set by the federal government to ensure that documents are accessible to individuals with disabilities
Review and validate scripts for documents, pictures, videos, and training materials to maintain accuracy, consistency, and alignment with organizational goals
Utilize collaborative tools such as Microsoft Teams for efficient communication, document sharing, and project coordination
