Position Summary:

The WoundCareNurseisresponsible for theoverall follow upof allthe residents in thefacilitywithall types of wounds.

Functions:

1.      Checksallnewadmissionsandreadmissionsforpresenceofwounds.

2.     CoordinateswithallUnitManagersandNursingSupervisors forallnosocomialwounds.

3.      Ensuresthattreatmentordersareinplace.

4.     Monitorstheresponseofthetreatmentorders.

5.      WeeklyWoundroundswithWoundDoctor.

6.     InitiatestheindividualWoundcareplans.

7.      Initiates andupdatestheweeklywoundtrackinganddistributestotheotherdepartments.

8.      UpdatesandevaluatestheWoundcareplansquarterlyandwhenthereisasignificantchange.

9.      Informs the NextofKinof the residents withwounds on admission, readmission, andin-house developed anddocuments in theprogress notes.

10.   Ensuresthattheresidentwithwoundshavespecializedmattressandoff-loadingdevices.

11.   CoordinateswithRehab Departmentforpositioningdevices.

12.   CoordinateswiththeDieticianforthenutritionalneeds

13.   CoordinateswiththeAttendingDoctorsforbloodvaluesandchangesinthetreatmentorders.

14.   Coordinates withtheUnit Managers andSupervisors in ensuringthat treatments are done,and specialized mattresses andoff-loadingdevices are in-place.

15.   Makesaweekly auditfor off-loadingdevicesandspecial mattresses andreportsto the Director of Nursing her/his findings.

16.   AssisttheNursingDepartmentasneeded.AsperthedirectiveoftheDNSandorADNS.
