About the Job
A sales-oriented designer to co-sell with salespeople to win projects and achieve established sales goals. WC will have strong experience in our industry and have ability to deliver knowledge-based expertise and consulting that adds value, and separate Storr as a market leader and solution provider.
The WC will be assigned to projects that require a strong creative approach with delivery of a design intent that inspires the customer and design firm to select Storr. The WC will lead the design component of our sales strategy and participate in customer meetings and presentations until the job is won. They will work to build strong relationships with the customer and their A&D partner and work to identify key needs and corresponding solutions.
The WC will lead design strategy and design work on assigned bids that Storr receives. The WC will focus on design intent, product selection, budgeting, and pricing strategy for the bid. The WC will lead design work if other designers are involved. The WC will participate in customer presentations with bids.
The WC will have specific skill in product selection, finish resources, and color and material application. They will create good, better, and best strategies and be skilled at project budgeting. They will have strong expertise with visual product presentations using CET renderings and PowerPoint.
WC will be well-connected in the design community and participate in professional organizations.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design strategy for project assignments
- Co-selling with the sales team to win business
- Manage the design process for the project
- Discovery exercises with clients to uncover key needs for their spaces
- Creative solution development including CET renderings, budgets, floorplans, presentation boards, PowerPoint presentations, etc
- Good working knowledge of products offered by Storr and awareness of competitive product offerings.
- Ability to research competition to apply our applications strategically
- Results-oriented and self-motivated
- Initiate personal development to strengthen expertise on products, issues, research, initiatives, LEED, etc.
- Be a self-starter with a high level of responsiveness and flexibility in support of client needs and timelines
- Desire to work on a team as a motivated member
- Has a strong understanding of the sales process
- Good probing skills necessary to facilitate the Discovery process
- Able to uncover customer needs and lead application development, not just "follow directions"
- Enjoys client interaction and can engage in a "sales" discussion
- Ability to cultivate strong relationships with clients
- Comfortable making presentations and demonstrating solutions to prospective customers
- Comfortable with budget discussions - estimates, contracts, margins
- Able to manage a "sales" goal
- Desire to develop sales skills
Education and/or Experience
- BA/BS, 5 plus years' experience in commercial furniture
- Technical skills including CET and excellent interpersonal, communication, and coaching skills.
