Job Details
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney to join our team in Fort Myers.
This role is ideal for a dedicated professional with a passion for defending employers and insurance carriers in workers’ compensation claims while providing exceptional legal representation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators in all aspects of workers’ compensation defense, including litigation and settlement negotiations.
- Draft and file pleadings, motions, and briefs.
- Conduct depositions of claimants, medical professionals, and expert witnesses.
- Attend mediations, hearings, and trials to advocate for clients’ best interests.
- Analyze medical records, employment records, and other documentation to assess claims.
- Develop legal strategies and provide case evaluations and recommendations to clients.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients, keeping them informed about case progress and legal strategies.
- Stay current with Florida workers’ compensation laws, trends, and regulatory changes.
- Collaborate with colleagues to foster a supportive and team-oriented environment.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active member in good standing with The Florida Bar.
- 3+ years of experience in workers’ compensation defense or a related legal field.
- Proven litigation experience, including managing a high-volume caseload.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative legal team.
- Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software.
- Experience with handling workers’ compensation cases for large employers or insurance companies.
- Familiarity with local court procedures and judges in Southwest Florida.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive client relationships.
