- JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
Provides support and coverage for the SHS Workers’ Compensation programs, which includes intake and follow-up of work-related injuries and illnesses, completion and submission of the state Report of Illness or Injury form, providing required information to the Workers’ Compensation insurance carrier and assisting employees and managers with questions related to workers’ compensation. Works closely with Employee Health professionals to provide services and support to injured employees, as well as to ensure proper case management of open claims.
- DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
- Employee Health & Safety (EH&S) strives to protect and improve the health and safety of Samaritan Health Services’ workforce. Employees are evaluated in the EH&S department at new hire for hospital and state required health testing and immunizations. EH&S team members provide assistance and consultation to management in the areas of hazard assessment, ergonomics, accident investigation, return-to-work and fitness-for-duty services. EH&S team members play a key role on safety, injury prevention, infection prevention and wellness committees. We also assist Human Resources with determining the appropriate work adaptations for employees with ADAAA requests.
- EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate's degree or equivalent experience required.
- Two (2) years experience in a position of similar responsibility and complexity required.
- Experience and/or training with MS Office applications, data entry, word processing and spreadsheets required.
- Experience in disability/absence/return-to-work/case management/healthcare/safety preferred.
- Experience with database software preferred.

Ability to perform group presentations and to communicate complex issues specific to workers’ compensation insurance regulations and procedures.

- Compliance - Ability to evaluate information to determine compliance with workers’ compensation laws, regulations, or standards. Use knowledge and judgment skills to determine whether events or processes comply. Responsible for the reporting and tracking work-related injuries and accidents according to state and federal laws.
- Customer Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Confidentiality - Knowledge of State and Federal (HIPAA) laws pertaining to confidentiality of protected health information. Ability to comply with laws and maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information.
- Mathematics - Knowledge of mathematics, including statistics, and their applications.
