Seeking Work Methods and Procedures Specialist for Utility Company in Northern California
Summary:
You will provide expertise for leadership and support of projects to ensure improved safety, reliability and efficiency of field maintenance and construction processes and programs and provide technical support for maintenance and construction departments as a liaison and advocate. Incumbents provide communication and feedback on construction methods and equipment issues, work to integrate safety into the development of work methods, equipment designs and associated work tasks, and work to ensure safe, reliable, and affordable service.
Responsibilities:
- Provides technical expertise, historical perspective, industry standard with construction and work methods for transmission overhead.
- Develops high level written work standards and procedures with deep dive analysis of best practices.
- Assists in developing content to support the course objectives and assessment using instructional design principles, best practices, and incorporating multimedia to design best-in-class course materials.
- Collaborates with others to identify, analyze, and improve existing business processes within a department to meet new goals and objectives.
- Interacts with engineers and project managers when equipment is being evaluated and/or deployed/installed.
- The specialist works primarily on the administrative side, communicating with technical writers on all Utility company processes from cradle to grave.
- This person must have above-average computer skills with a big emphasis on communication skills.
- They will need some technical knowledge, but they will primarily be doing administrative work.
- Candidates with either Utility Lineman or Engineer would be considered.
- Any new utility tool introduced to the company will need a documented process for using it.
- The specialist will take a picture of the new tool and write the procedure on how to use the tool. It will be sent to the tech writers to edit. Then, it will be returned to the Methods and Procedure group for final approval.
- Responsible for documenting all standard process and procedure processes of QEWs in the field.
- Review and evaluate current processes.
- Processes include controlling conductors, high voltage, hot sticks, and new field equipment.
Requirements:
- Excellent documentation and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Above average computer skills, i.e. SAP, Excel, Word
- Previous Management, Lead or Documentation experience.
- Must live 1-2 hours from the Stockton, CA office.
Desired skills:
- Previous experience at PG&E
- Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) experience
- Transmission Exp. ( Knowledgeable in Transmission tools and procedures)
- Familiar with OSHA regulations.
- Familiar with CPUC G.O. 195
- Journeymen Linemen Certification with transmission background.
- Electrical Engineers with transmission background.
- Project Manager experience
- Any Utility experience.
Location: Hybrid Work Schedule (90% at home and 10% onsite at the Stockon, CA training facility for meetings and trainings)
Hours: 40-hour minimum work week with some OT available. Flexible options for work schedule. 4 x 10 hour days a week or 5 x 8 hours a week.
