About the Job
Computational Physics, Inc. (CPI) is seeking a Windows Security Engineer to support our customers at the United States Naval Observatory (USNO) in the deployment and maintenance of its new Precise Time and Astrometry Network.
The USNO is responsible for the production and dissemination of precise parameters concerning time, star positions, and the earth's rotation to the Department of Defense (DoD) and intelligence community, other U.S. Government (USG) users such as NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), as well as non-USG civilian and international users. Distribution of these parameters supports GPS navigation, among other applications, an important national and international function. A reliable, secure, maintainable and manageable USNO network is crucial to the production and dissemination of these data products.
The successful candidate will:
- Provide direct technical support to the Precise Time, Celestial Reference Frame, Earth Orientation, and Astronomical Applications Departments at USNO.
- Work with USNO Information Assurance staff to ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements.
- Prepare and maintain associated documentation.
The position will be located at the U.S. Naval Observatory in N.W. Washington, DC. Partial telework may be permitted in accordance with applicable Navy and Observatory guidance in effect at the time. Qualifications:
- Clearable to Secret level required, Top Secret Desired
- Security Plus certification, or DoD-accepted equivalent
- Seeking a Windows Security Engineer who is responsible for the deployment, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of TRELLIX & MDE within the organization
- This role involves ensuring the security and integrity of endpoint systems by implementing and managing security policies and monitoring compliance
- Deploy and configure TRELLIX & MDE components
- Develop and implement security policies, rules, and signatures for TRELLIX & MDE to protect endpoint systems from threats
- Monitor and maintain the health and performance of TRELLIX & MDE infrastructure
- Apply patches and updates to TRELLIX & MDE components to ensure they are up-to-date and secure
- Perform regular backups and ensure the integrity of TRELLIX & MDE data
- Monitor alerts and events generated by TRELLIX and MDE to identify potential security incidents
- Investigate and respond to TRELLIX and MDE alerts, coordinating with the incident response team as necessary
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to TRELLIX and MDE components and policies
- Ensure TRELLIX and MDE deployments and operations comply with relevant security standards and regulations (e.g., NIST, DISA STIGs)
- Generate and review reports on TRELLIX and MDE activity, compliance status, and security incidents
