Description
Summary
Responsible for scheduling and job performance for the welding taking into consideration cost, quality, and production time restraints.
Responsible for all aspects of welding work including but not limited to managing welding field and shop projects, managing welding field and shop technicians, developing processes, training, work instructions and procedures as well as performing all welding inspections for projects (jobs) either in-house or at customer site.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
Daily Core Tasks:
1. Jobs are completed on-time
2. Quality specifications are met
3. Costs are controlled and within budget, including but not limited to the following:
Project Management Tasks:
Manage all aspects of welding (jobs), including but not limited to the following:
Properly communicate both internally and externally to ensure all parties are in alignment. Mark up prints to provide clear communication. Utilize tools such as email, spreadsheets, File Maker and Gantt charts.
Administrative Tasks:

Subject Matter Expert Tasks:
Act as a Subject Matter Expert for welding, including but not limited to the following:

Daily Core Tasks:
- Prioritize, schedule, and delegate work assignments to ensure the following:
1. Jobs are completed on-time
2. Quality specifications are met
3. Costs are controlled and within budget, including but not limited to the following:
- Raw Materials
- Subcontracted Processes
- Direct Labor
- Plan welding production schedules for both shop and field projects.
- Establish and qualify welding processes.
- Review and compare actual vs estimated costs.
- As required, create, and implement process improvement plans where deficiencies are identified.
- Review parts shortages with Purchasing and adjust schedules as necessary.
- As required, be an active participant in quoting jobs.
- As required, act as a technical resource to address and resolve inquiries and problems.
Project Management Tasks:
Manage all aspects of welding (jobs), including but not limited to the following:
- Kick-off Meetings
- Order material(s), as required
- Manage shop and field welding technicians
- Manage field welding sub-contractors, as required
- Manage fabrication welding sub-contractors, as required
- Create Welding work instructions
- Create Welding Procedures (WPS)
- Coordinate with certified Welding Engineer(s) to create and draft new Welding Procedures (WPS)
- Routings, as required
- Labor
- Design weldments based on immediate needs of the field machinist or engineering department
- Post Job Review and Summary write ups

Administrative Tasks:
- Document and maintain Welding Log
- Document and maintain Welding Training Log
- Train welders on new techniques and equipment
- Test welders to AWS Certifications
- Manage the fleet of welding equipment including but not limited to maintenance, location, etc
- Purchase new capital equipment as required
- Manage the shelf life and controlled storage of welding consumables.
Welding Tasks:
- Perform welding inspection both on internal and external projects.
- Perform in-house welding to support internal or external projects.
- Perform field (on-site) welding to support customer jobs.
- Be an active participant planning and mobilizing field welding projects to ensure proper equipment is supplied to the customer's job.
Subject Matter Expert Tasks:
Act as a Subject Matter Expert for welding, including but not limited to the following:
- Internal processing, external processing and training of personnel
