OVERVIEW:
The Mechanical Engineer is the technical specialist for the design of the vehicle carbody structure, responsible for delivering the engineering work on time, with high quality and within the cost throughout the project lifecycle.
He or she will carry out project design activities to develop the carbody structures (both steel and aluminum) in a project, including requirements management, design development, customer design review process, support procurement process, problem solving during production activities up to the completion of verification and validation of the design.
FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION:
• Design parts and assemblies of vehicle carbody, undertaking design activities under their responsibility in an autonomous way.
• Development and delivery of high-quality engineering design work, within defined budgets and timescales.
• Work closely and in a collaborative way with other design engineers to ensure proper coordination to achieve overall design integrity.
• Ensure the design complies with customer requirements and the applicable law and standards, following the internal design verification and validation process.
• Lead Design Reviews (internal + external) for vehicle carbody. Prepare the documentation, attend the meetings, and follow up open design review items.
• Support, from the technical point of view, procurement, industrialization and production teams during manufacturing ramp-up and commissioning.
• Monitor, control and report design activities progress within the project.
TRAINING/EDUCATION REQUIRED:
• Bachelor or Master´s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Additional qualifications in structural metal design and/or structural welding certifications are preferred.
• Two years or more experience in the design and development of the complex metallic structures, preferable in the rolling stock or similar sector, including the ability to work in a collaborative and multicultural team.
• Advanced knowledge of calculations of aluminum and steel structures.
• Desirable knowledge in the US Engineering market in order to develop a pool of engineering services at best cost

• Advanced structural design knowledge, with experience in designing subsystems including brackets, sheet metal design, machining, tolerance analysis, corrosion protection, material selection, casted parts and fasteners selection etc.
• Ability to develop designs which accommodate the product lifecycle (procurement, manufacture, use, maintain, remove and dispose).
• Need to be proficient in CATIA V5 for part design, sheet metal design, casted part design and assembly design.
• Should be familiar with the tools like PLM, DOORS, and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work in a high-level collaborative multicultural environment and promoting a teamwork mentality.
• Client-oriented. Knowledge, awareness and interest in the Client (internal and/or external) needs.
• Results-oriented. Pro-active in the role and ability to focus activities towards achieving objectives.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills English, both verbal and written. Spanish will be valuable
• Ability for 30% national and/or international travelling as per project needs.

• Shall report all injuries/illnesses to their supervisor that occur at work, the day of the incident
• Shall report any unsafe conditions that are identified in their respective work area to their supervisor
• Shall comply with all client safety policies, procedures, and requirements that are communicated to them, including Job Safety Analysis (JSA) procedures
• Shall wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that is communicated and supplied to them
• Shall keep their respective work area clean and orderly at all times
• Shall attend all client required training as soon as possible before the start of their assigned work
• Shall NOT operate any client equipment (forklifts, cranes, scissor lifts) until certified to do so
