Job Description
Position: Aluminum/Steel Welder (Helms)
Department: Aluminum/Steel Welding
Reports To: Responsible Welding Supervisor and the Production Manager
Summary
The welder must have specific appropriate welding knowledge, so that the tasks can be fulfilled. These can be obtained from a combination of theoretical knowledge, training or experience. It is the responsibility of the manufacturer to determine the requirements, that the specific tasks can be performed qualitatively by the welder.
Responsibilities
· Quality of the welded products must be according to required regulations.
· Before the beginning of a new contract ensure that all the necessary documents are at the workplace.
· Self-inspection document must be filled out.
· Ensure that all tools are in proper working conditions.
Qualification Requirements
· Welding qualification according to AWS 1.1; 1.2 and 1.6 as well as according to EN ISO 9606-1 and 2.
· Mastery of welding processes used in production, MIG [GMAW] / MAG [GMAW ] and TIG [GTAW ].
· Safe handling of the Standards DIN EN ISO 5817, DIN EN ISO 10042.
· Reliable interpretation of welding documents and their implementation in production.
· Process safety in the welding of different base materials, carbon steel - stainless steel - aluminum.
· Flexibility of application in different Welding shops, Aluminum and Steel.
· Must be able to work independently.
· Must give support to others in all aspects of welding technology.
· Check welding equipment, welding machines and auxiliary devices for suitability.
· Maintain the required quality of the welding filler materials and base materials as well as their
Required documents and proper storage
· Prepare and weld work samples according to the instructions of the responsible welding supervisor.
Physical/Medical Requirements
· Must pass a pre-employment drug screening
· Must be able to lift 50 to 100 pounds.
· Use of safety equipment including but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, safety boots or shoes. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
Education Requirement
High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
Valid welders test for the necessary welding processes and materials.
Two - Five years experience welding, or training from an accredited technical college or adult educational facility.

- Cleans and maintains an orderly work area.
- Communicates effectively with other workers to direct personal workflow.
- Assist other individuals in area when needed.
- Perform equipment change-overs.
- Responsible for quality of his/her welded welds.
- Complete daily production paperwork.
- Operate within standard operating procedures.
- Perform equipment and tooling Preventative Maintenance as required.
- Clean and maintain work area.
- Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use.
- Other duties as assigned.
