**FAA 145 Repair Station**
Night Shift Position: A 10% shift differential will be added to the base hourly rate.
Job Description:
The welder will prepare, arrange, fit and assemble a variety of materials including Stainless steel, Steel, Nickel base alloy, Cobalt base alloy etc., and components using a variety of weld processes TIG, MIG, torch (oxygen acetylene), TIG brazing and torch brazing. The welder must be capable of welding tubing, sheet metal, and structure-based components.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Apply all types of welding processes to various Aviation Components, including piece parts, assemblies, and components
- Make welds with tight tolerance requirements and with limited accessibility
- Possess skills to successfully interpret, execute both new repairs and production using drawings, internal Op sheets (planning), and repair manuals as required
- Set up and perform welding operations within work area utilizing both manual and /or automatic techniques within the limits of certifications in accordance with customer requirements, and current methods and process sheets
- Inspect welds visually and dimensionally with precision measuring instruments for conformance to drawings, internal Op sheets (planning) customer specifications and industry specifications
- Have a working knowledge of general welding practices and weld ability of metal groups within Customer specifications and welding certification.
- Be a positive flexible team player and participate with problem solving and continuous improvements
- All other duties and/or tasks assigned by supervisor
- Adhere to all safety and quality standards
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent certification (documentation required)
- Must meet ITAR definition of US Person (documentation required)
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience using TIG, MIG, torch, (oxygen acetylene), TIG brazing
- Experience with aerospace alloys such as Stainless Steel, Inconel, Titanium, Cobalt and Alum
- Must pass weld test coupons per AWS D17 (ref weld groups stainless, Nickle, Cobalt, Alum and Titanium) Included butt, lap, edge, corner, tee joints and tube welding.
- Must have sheet metal fabrications skills, familiar with assembly/disassembly procedures
- Must be able to demonstrate tube welding at 45, 60 and 90 degree angles
- Ongoing FAA training and testing required
- MTI is a safety sensitive manufacturer. Successful results of pre-employment FAA drug testing will be required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with in-process use of FPI a plus
- Desired skill 3 years’ experience tube welding of aerospace alloys such as 321 SS, Inconel 625, Rene and Titanium
- Desired current weld certification per AWS D17, weld groups Stainless, Inconel, Alum and Titanium
- Ability to weld tubing
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, move throughout the facility, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and communicate. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 45 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment may be loud. Must be able to use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
