About the Job
Eddie Kane Steel Products has been a family owned and operated business providing exceptional service in the steel industry for over 24 years. The company motto has always been to "Treat others as you would have them treat you" and we are in search of a full time Welder.
- Must demonstrate skilled craftsmanship with all welding and fitting activities
- Move raw material, work in process, and finished goods into and between work centers
- Operate hand and power tools to clean finished materials and to complete minor repairs
- Operate other machinery to complete secondary operations such as drilling, punching, bending, grinding, torch cutting, shearing, flattening, etc.
- Move finished material onto skids for final packaging
- Maintain pace with equipment operators to ensure material flows smoothly into and out of individual work centers and prevent back up or delays
- Read, interpret, and understand the job requirements of each customer order. Communicate with foreman to ensure a complete understanding of all information
- Use basic measuring tools to maintain quality standards on each order
- Communicate all pertinent job related information to foreman on a daily basis
- Report any problems or quality concerns to supervisor immediately
- Performs other duties as assigned
Skills:
- Basic reading and mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
- Ability to lift, bend, stoop, squat, stand or walk for extended periods of time
- Good oral & written communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
2 -3 years prior experience

- Conduct job duties in a safe and efficient manner. Abide by all safety policies and guideline.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times. Use any available time to clean work area and ensure all debris is disposed of properly.
- Promptly report any accidents, incidents, near misses or hazardous conditions to your supervisor
- Familiarity with all EKSP forms, documents, reports related to your job function, including but not limited to forms and reports related to inventory, logistics, & production/operations departments
- Maintain neat and accurate written production documentation as required
- Communicate all pertinent job related information to supervisor/manager on a daily basis
- Forward-thinking while learning from errors, with focus on quality and customer service, solutions and continual improvements
- Focus on efficiencies and time- and labor-saving steps; cost reduction; increased profitability
- Performs all duties as assigned
Pay Range: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour

As a steel service center and distributor of hot-rolled prime and non-prime steel plate, Eddie Kane Steel sells on- and off-gauge, pattern and non-pattern plate sizes, ranging in thickness from 3/16 to 8 inches. Eddie Kane Steel maintains a diverse inventory of prime and non-prime steel plate and, for its strategic customer partners, stock inventory of custom-made parts. Value-added products include OEM parts, counterweights, and steel burn outs for diverse industries, including the waste industry, general building construction, transportation, agricultural and industrial equipment, drilling, theatrical stage, and elevator industries.
Eddie Kane Steel’s flagship processing facility in Ohio (180,000 square-foot warehouse and production plant) has a crane capacity up to 100 tons and has full rail access. The North Carolina and California facilities are also fully served by rail.
Eddie Kane Steel’s processing capabilities include high-definition plasma and oxy-fuel flame cutting, shearing, bending, drilling, punching, welding, beveling, Blanchard grinding, stress relieving, and light machining. With two plasma burning machines (including high-definition plasma machines), plate thicknesses up to 14 inches can be cut. Our oxy-fuel cutting capabilities include several multi-torch multi-head machines with several hundred feet of cutting surface. Through close partnerships with vendors offering proven high-quality workmanship, we provide services such as painting and coating, stamping, embossing, slitting, sawing, turning, annealing, leveling, and pressing.
