Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Welder to work on a military base for a short-term contract of 1-3 months. This position requires a high level of welding expertise, including proficiency in gas metal arc welding (GMAW) and shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), with experience in military vehicle and vessel maintenance. The ideal candidate will possess certifications and be able to pass background and physical checks to work onsite.

We are seeking a skilled Welder to work on a military base for a short-term contract of 1-3 months. This position requires a high level of welding expertise, including proficiency in gas metal arc welding (GMAW) and shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), with experience in military vehicle and vessel maintenance. The ideal candidate will possess certifications and be able to pass background and physical checks to work onsite.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform welding operations on military vehicles and vessels, adhering to all safety standards.
- Use jigs, fixtures, and clamping devices to assemble and position parts for welding.
- Conduct welds following American Welding Society D1.1 and D1.3 standards, including GMAW (steel and aluminum) and SMAW (E7018).
- Comply with scheduled inspections using visual tests, dye penetrant, and magnetic particle tests.
- Work under the supervision of the GSM Manager to ensure all welding meets military quality standards.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of direct welding experience.
- Completion of a formal welding apprenticeship program or equivalent on-the-job training.
- Completion of the Basic Metal Workers Course or equivalent training.
- Certifications: Must hold certifications in GMAW (steel and aluminum) and SMAW (E7018) per AWS D1.1 and D1.3 standards.
- Technical Skills: Working knowledge of electric, gas, and other welding processes; experience with jigs and fixtures for assembly and setup.
- Physical Requirements: Able to lift up to 50 pounds unaided, wear respirators, and pass physical and drug screenings.
- Licenses: Must possess a valid driver's license and have own transportation.
- Compliance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) and Base Access; U.S. Citizenship required.
- Shift: 0600 - 1430, Monday through Friday
- Breaks:
- 10-minute breaks at 0900 and 1300
- Lunch: 1100 - 1130
- Must provide proof of welding certifications as specified.
- Successful candidates must pass a background check, physical examination, and drug screening.
