Intertek is searching for an Welder/Fabricator to join our Building & Constructionteam in our York, PA office. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career with the Equipment Technology team!
The Welder/Fabricator is responsible for fabricating testing equipment used in the building industry .
What you'll do:
- Produce parts from detailed drawings or sketches for: jigs and fixtures, replacement parts, new equipment
- Fabricate new equipment
- Plan necessary actions for completion of a job
- Review drawings/instructions to understand specifications of output
- Work collaboratively with engineering to ensure functionality of equipment
- Install equipment at customer sites
- Maintain tool shop equipment in good, working order
- Operation of equipment (crane, forklift)
- Assist with maintenance of all company equipment as directed by the Supervisor
- Inventory all expendable materials
- Perform other work as required
What it takes to be successful in this role:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Vocational training or apprenticeship preferred
- 2-4 years of experience preferred
- Knowledgeable in fabrication equipment and techniques including welding (MIG/TIG), brake, and shear operation
- Experience with set up and operation of manual tools and machines (lathe, mill, etc.) preferred
- Ability to use precision tools to take accurate measurements
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals
- Knowledge of metal properties and other material
- Physical ability to routinely lift at least 50 pounds
- Ability to travel as business needs dictate
