Pay Rate: $20.00/hr. To $23.00/hr. DOE
Shift: Days
Monday- Friday some Saturdays as needed
SUMMARY:
Welders fabricate assemblies out of metal utilizing a variety of equipment to manufacture product to shop drawings, specifications, or other forms of instructions. The welder performs a variety of tasks, including, but not limited to weld preparations, welding, and weld finishing operations. The welder always works safely and looks out for the safety of himself and others.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Job Specific Duties:
Welding of fabricated assemblies.
Use tools and equipment, including torches, forklifts, carpenter levels, laser levels, manlift, power drills, power grinders, power saws, and mag drills.
Assist other employees to successfully execute work activities on time.
Maintain adherence to company policies, quality, safety, and environmental standards.
Signal overhead crane operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of equipment and materials.
Maintain welding equipment in safe working condition.
Perform preventative maintenance on equipment used.
Maintain weld quality consistent with ISO-9000 certification and AISC standards.
Other Job Specific Duties:
Must maintain consistent and punctual attendance.
Must maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with KSF procedures, rules, and regulations.
Must understand and follow the Kern Steel Fabrication (KSF) Code of Conduct and all guidelines in the KSF employee handbook.
Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge:
Working knowledge of computers, smart phones, and tablets.
Welding and general labor safety.
KSF policies and procedures.
Ability to:
Read and understand welding symbols in shop drawings.
Complete quality welds per fabrication drawings.
Understand and read layouts, blueprints, diagrams, work orders, and welding procedures.
Set up and adjust welding machine to stay within parameters of welding procedures.
Understand operations of welding equipment.
Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
Work independently and in a team.
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum six (6) months of fabrication environment experience.
Reading and comprehension skills.
Basic math and measurement skills (e.G., addition, subtraction, diameters)
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Applicable craft training by an approved construction trade association (e.G., ACI, BC, R.O.C.) welding programs
Possession of a valid California driver license and appropriate insurance.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Successful completion of physical, substance abuse screening, and background check.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters in performing the essential functions of this job.
Work is primarily performed outside.
Noise level is moderately loud to loud.
