About the Job
• Job Summary:
o We are seeking an experienced Class A Steel Fitter to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate fitting and assembling of steel structures, beams, frames, and other metal components used in construction, manufacturing, or infrastructure projects. The Class A Steel Fitter will work closely with engineers, welders, and other skilled tradespeople to ensure precise alignment, measurements, and quality control in all installations.
• Key Responsibilities:
o Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements.
o Measure, cut, and shape steel components, beams, and structures as per project plans.
o Fit, align, and secure steel components using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
o Ensure proper alignment of metal structures and components, using leveling instruments, gauges, and measuring devices.
o Fabricate and assemble steel frames, supports, and other structures, ensuring that all work complies with safety regulations and engineering specifications.
o Inspect and test completed assemblies to verify they meet quality standards and specifications.
o Work in compliance with health and safety standards, ensuring safe handling of materials, tools, and equipment.
o Collaborate with other team members, including welders and engineers, to achieve project goals.
o Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
o Perform maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and tools as necessary.
o Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members to report progress and any issues encountered during the project.
• Qualifications:
o Proven experience as a Class A Steel Fitter or in a similar role within construction or fabrication industries.
o Strong knowledge of steel fitting techniques, blueprint reading, and measurements.
o Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
o In-depth understanding of safety regulations and best practices for steel fabrication and installation.
o Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
o Strong attention to detail and high standards of craftsmanship.
o Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
o Physical strength and stamina to perform manual labor and lift heavy components.
o Valid [relevant certifications, e.g., welding or rigging certifications] may be required.
• Education and Experience:
o High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in welding, metalworking, or a related field is a plus.
o Minimum 5 years of experience in steel fitting or related construction/metalworking roles.
• Working Conditions:
o May involve working outdoors in various weather conditions.
o Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety boots, gloves, hard hats, and hearing protection.
o Ability to work at heights or in confined spaces, depending on the project requirements.
o Potential for overtime and weekend work based on project deadlines.
