Job Description
Work with CDM Smith’s Chicago team for an amazing career in the municipal water and wastewater industry. Work with our top-notch experts on innovative projects at the local and national level. CDM Smith offers excellent opportunities for career advancement. Make an impact by:
- Writing technical reports on important issues in the water / wastewater industry.
- Designing civil components to support water and wastewater treatment facilities.
- Presenting to municipal clients and stakeholders in the region.
- Grow your technical skills by working with the best experts in the company. Technical development will include opportunities to write technical articles and attend conferences.
- Playing a key role in the mentorship of junior staff through structured mentoring, work assignment and technical review.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
- Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in states where an EIT is not obtainable (within 18 months of hire, promotion, or transfer).
- 5 years of related experience in the water / wastewater industry.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and essential functions of the position. These duties may vary depending on workload and project demands.
- Equivalent additional, directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
