STARTING SALARY: $20.08/Hour
STATUS: Regular (benefitted)
DEPARTMENT: Public Utilities
SUMMARY: Under the general supervision and direction of the Water Construction Supervisor and Water Construction Crew Leader, performs general maintenance and labor work pertaining to the operations and maintenance of the City drinking water system.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent education preferred. Must possess a valid Utah Driver’s License; must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License within one year of hire; must obtain a Grade II UT Water Operator Certificate within two years of hire; must obtain a UT State Flagman’s Certification within two years of hire; must be certified by the department on all assigned crew equipment within two years of hire. Knowledge of tools and small equipment used in the operation, maintenance, and construction of drinking water system. Moderate responsibility for the care, condition, and use of materials, equipment, and tools. A one-year probationary period is a prerequisite to this position. Ability to furnish and obtain information from other departments; contact with other departments. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.Tool, Machine, Equipment Operation: Regular use of hand tools; regular use of dump trucks, utility trucks and pickup trucks; limited use of loaders, backhoes and excavators. Prioritize tasks, establish effective working relationships with employees and the public. Able to perform basic operations with little or no supervision
