The City of Woodstock is accepting INTERNAL and EXTERNALapplications for a full-time Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I/II with the Public Works Department.

JOB SUMMARIES:
Wastewater Treatment Operator I: This position is responsible to perform intermediate skilled work in the maintenance and repair of specialized machinery and equipment in a wastewater treatment plant and related work as required. The work is performed under the supervision of the Wastewater Treatment Superintendent.
Wastewater Treatment Operator II: This position is responsible to operate wastewater treatment plant equipment, perform equipment maintenance tasks and monitor operations. The work is performed under the supervision of the Wastewater Treatment Superintendent.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I:
- High school diploma/equivalent with a prior responsible work experience; or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Class 4 Wastewater Certification within eighteen months (18) from date of hire.
- A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record for eligibility of City coverage.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Class 3 or Class 2 Wastewater Certification.
Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator II:
- High school diploma/equivalent with a minimum of six (6) years' wastewater treatment plant operations work experience; or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Class 1 Wastewater Certification.
- A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record for eligibility of City coverage.

DAYS/HOURS FOR THE POSITION:
Regularly scheduled work days and hours for this position are: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm with rotating weekends (Saturdays at straight time and Sundays at overtime.) The position also requires after hours call-ins via an overtime rotation list.
SALARY:
Starting anticipated pay rates are $30.50 per hour for Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I and $32.00 per hour for Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator II in accordance with the Local 150 Union contract. These rates will increase to $31.65 per hour and $33.20 per hour, respectively, effective May 1, 2025. Position includes eligibility for full benefits package of group health insurance, benefit time, and IMRF retirement plan.
