About the Job

The City of Sterling is hiring a full-time Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Trainee.

Under supervision, the trainee will learn to operate and maintain the Wastewater Treatment Plant and Sewage Pump Stations. Responsibilities include:

Operating and maintaining equipment such as pumps, blowers, and generators.

Recording and interpreting data from various monitoring devices.

Entering confined spaces for maintenance tasks.

Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Valid Illinois Class B CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsements.

Ability to pursue additional training and obtain necessary certifications.

Salary: $47,667 - $54,000 annually, based on qualifications. Benefits include health coverage and IMRF enrollment.
