About the Position
This position supervises multiple teams that oversee functions,
including the management of post-closure care plans for ten closed
landfills and the operation of six transfer stations. In this role, the
position will oversee the maintenance, monitoring, and inspections of
County managed closed landfill sites and the operation and maintenance
of County transfer stations for the disposal of solid waste and other
materials. This position requires excellent organizational skills,
strong leadership abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of waste
management and heavy equipment fleets. The Waste Resources Operations
and Maintenance Supervisor must manage complex and time-sensitive
projects to ensure they are completed safely and on schedule.

Job Contributions
Supervise employees, including hiring, assigning, and monitoring
workload, determining work priorities, training, and performance
management
Manage the disposal of solid waste, recyclables, and other materials
from the transfer station. Includes scheduling routes and monitoring
staff to ensure work is completed weekly, ensuring pre and post-trips
are completed, and completing weekly reports
Manage budgets, financial reports, and resource allocation to support
cost-effective operations
Estimate time, labor, equipment, and materials needed for projects.
Maintain detailed equipment lists and specifications. Schedule equipment
maintenance and repair, including the ordering of parts
Maintain federally regulated post-closure requirements of landfill,
roadways, parking, and public access to transfer stations and closed
landfills. Ensure all landfill monitoring, inspections, and remediation
are conducted as required
Instruct crew leaders in the proper use and maintenance of equipment.
Monitor and promote section safety meetings. Ensure that all safety
rules and regulations are observed on the job site. Conduct worksite
safety inspections and analyze job hazard assessments
Plan, prioritize, and assign work to meet project needs and schedules,
including basic engineering, design/build, and advanced and basic
surveying techniques, and is able to apply this to a project with basic
grade checking using grade staking
De elop and maintain emergency response plans for incidents such as
spills, fires, or accidents. Train staff on emergency procedures and
coordinate with relevant authorities during emergency situations
Identify areas for process improvement and efficiency enhancement within
the transfer station. Propose and implement innovative solutions to
optimize operations and minimize costs
Maintain heavy equipment operators and CDL holders safe operating
procedures to ensure they meet organizational policies and OSHA
standards.Ensures CDL holders are keeping their licenses and medical
cards up to date
Monitor and enforce adherence to Division policies, procedures, and
standards
