This position will support Navarro-ATL. Navarro-ATL is located in Richland, WA, and operates, manages, and maintains the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy. The Navarro-ATL members are Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. (Oak Ridge, TN), and Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International (Gaithersburg, MD).
The Waste Operations Supervisor (WOS) reports to the 222-S Laboratory Waste Services Manager and is responsible for the oversight of the bargaining unit employees. In this role, the WOS provides leadership and supervisory duties of the Waste Chemical Technologists. The WOS also provides management support functions necessary to maintain continuity of daily operations for the waste organization. The WOS serves as the central point-of-contact for daily activities and maintains cognizance of safety, compliance, and waste management conditions.
Responsibilities:
+ Resolves work and safety issues to permit safe and efficient performance of work.
+ Provides effective progressive performance management of employee issues; responds to employee issues, concerns, and resolves, to the extent practicable, bargaining unit grievance issues.
+ Performs oversite and management of bargaining unit employees, including but not limited to task assignments, scheduling, training, and timekeeping.
+ Participates in daily resource scheduling meetings and conducts plan-of-the-day meetings with Waste Chem Techs to communicate facility status, scheduled work tasks, and safety information.
+ Performs management observations related to waste management tasks and functions.
+ Reviews waste stream documentation to support waste characterization processes. Reviews procedures and performs as Technical Owner for assigned procedures and documents.
+ Ensures personnel involved in the work activity are familiar with work scope, hazards, hazard controls, precautions, limitations, required training, and response to emergencies.
+ Tracks waste inventories to ensure accurate inventory and regulatory clock assignments.
+ Coordinates tasks associated with waste packaging and shipments with the shippers and waste technical specialists.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in related field and 9 years of related experience, to include 3-5 years in a supervisory/managerial capacity, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
+ 2 years' experience supervising/managing bargaining unit personnel with a working knowledge of bargaining unit agreements.
+ Working knowledge of waste accumulation and storage requirements.
+ Qualify as Waste Specialist within 6 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Rad Worker II and Hazardous Waste Worker qualified.
+ Working knowledge of radiological calculations and characterization.
+ Knowledge of DOE 435.1 Radiological Waste Management requirements.
+ Work experience to include analytical processes.

Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)
Grade 19: $114,475 - $144,325
Grade 20: $122,813 - $154,838
The grade level offered to the selected candidate will be based on business needs and the candidate's education, training, and/or relevant experience.
