Summary Description:
This position requires the skills and knowledge to effectively supervise a team of Warehouse Associates (Inventory, Receiving, Shipping and Team Leaders) in all aspects of receiving, inventory, shipping and return goods handling and processing. The incumbent performs daily analysis of volumes and other data to determine daily metrics, schedules and workload planning. This position must also effectively communicate with internal and external customers while placing major emphasis on accuracy, quality and process control to ensure strict adherence to customer and company specified standards.
Job Duties (Not Limited To):
- Working with and closely monitors various inbound/outbound customer shipments (LTL, TL, ocean container and returned goods) and expedites and controls the receiving and inventory placement of customer products and materials.
- Supervises group involved in warehouse operations to include interviewing, training, evaluating, scheduling, etc.
- Monitors employee's time, tracks paid time off, authorizes and forwards employee's time sheets to Payroll Department.
- Verifies accuracy and quality of inbound and outbound customer materials and placement of materials in warehouse inventory.
- Captures records and monitors metrics in conjunction with QMS and other quality management programs.
- Researches receiving and inventory discrepancies and conducts root cause analysis. Implements corrective action.
- Places major emphasis on accuracy and productivity in a detail oriented environment.
- Ensures compliance with customer policies and procedures and strict adherence to quality guidelines.
- Performs interviewing, coaching, evaluating, training, and scheduling functions.
- Provides feedback and instructions and conducts daily meetings with the Warehouse Team.
- Communicates regularly with managers, subordinates and peers.
- Reviews daily labor needs, and makes appropriate staffing arrangements.
- Assists with the establishment of core measurements. Maintains measurement records on a daily basis. Reports monthly warehouse efficiency by customer.
- Works to continuously improve the warehouse function to maintain current customer base and to better market our services to obtain new contracts.
- Interacts with customers via phone, fax, and email.
- Maintains all work areas in a neat, clean and orderly manner at all times
- Document processes and procedures and create work instructions as needed
Education & Experience:
- High school or equivalent education required, college course work preferred.
- 1-3 years of leadership and/or supervisory experience in a warehouse operation.
- Computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office and Outlook
- WMS systems experience required.
- Be able to move or lift packages weighing up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instruction in English.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
