Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Warehouse Manager, supervises the receiving, warehousing, and shipping of the product in a professional manner consistent with the company operations, cost objectives and customer requirements. This individual may supervise one or more major sections of the warehouse. Works with other management team members to provide direction, guidance, and coaching to staff members within a positive work environment.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Assists management team in acting as liaison between Logistics Team, customers, and carriers to ensure the highest level of quality service is provided.
- Identify and implement processes to ensure the facility meets or exceeds budget requirements. Identify and implement cost saving initiatives that impact both the facility and the company.
- Ensure the facility is in constant compliance with all Federal and State OSHA and Company Safety requirements and maintain an injury & accident-free work environment.
- Create and sustain a safe, clean, and orderly facility.
- Must ensure compliance of subordinates with written policies as set forth in dress code policy, attendance program and employee handbook.
- Ensures that timely performance feedback is given to employees on an ongoing basis with formal performance reviews conducted after 90 days of employment and then after, annually.
- Promotes employee development through in-house training, goal setting and achievement feedback. Recognition of accomplishments should be prompt and ongoing.
- Provides management with recommendations for promotions, wage increases and terminations.
- Takes timely corrective disciplinary measures via progressive and well documented discipline program.
- Promotes and maintains an ongoing safety awareness program. Schedules and conducts safety meetings and ensures that all preventative safety measures required are in place and that the facility remains in compliance with all cities, state, and federal regulations.
- Promotes ongoing training for subordinates to ensure they are following Company requirements.
- Familiar with warehouse management and operations including use of equipment and maintenance of same.
- Know inventory control management and be familiar with distribution service operations.
- Have good verbal and written communication skills.
- Establishes and modifies daily work schedules considering warehouse needs.
- Coordinates job activities and tasks of direct reports on a daily and/or extended basis, in addition to the timing and location of those tasks.
- Oversees the daily receiving of product and/or oversees the daily selection and shipping of product to stores.
- Interacts effectively with peers through ongoing communication and exchange of information and operates in accordance with shared warehouse management objectives.
- Collaborates with other divisional operational areas and communicates relevant information allowing them to fulfill their duties.
- Leads, plans and facilitates regularly scheduled Warehouse Associate meetings.
- Monitors and manages controllable expenses; provides appropriate inventory and efficiency results and makes employee payroll adjustments as necessary
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Education: This position requires a high school diploma with additional supervisory training courses. In the absence of formal education, experience that is equivalent and directly related may be substituted.
Experience: This position requires 3 or more years related supervisory experience with a proven track record in warehouse and distribution center operations. Position must also have two to three years experience in Shipping & Receiving functions in a conventional or mechanized warehouse.
Knowledge: Position requires knowledge of all warehouse equipment and processes, warehouse management systems, refrigerated and/or grocery warehouse products. Position requires knowledge of personal computers and associated business software (MS-Word, Excel, and Access preferred).
Skills and Abilities: Position requires a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels of management and staff. Good team building and facilitation skills, demonstrated by the performance of assigned teams, are also required.
Salary:
$70,000 - $75,000 per year
