Warehouse Material Handler
POSITION SUMMARY
The Materials Handler is part of the team responsible for the day to day department shipping and receiving operations including receiving, storing, packing, and shipping of merchandise or materials. Duties include responsibility for organizing domestic and international shipments, scheduling deliveries and the loading and unloading of trucks, including preparing necessary paperwork. Receives and distributes raw materials as required, to maintain shipping process at all locations. Responsible for inventory reconciliation including performing physical counts. Organizes warehouse for maximum efficiency including maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
90 days through staffing agency and then transitions to regular hire.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Accomplish daily work schedule including the organization of shipments to meet expected shipment dates and deadlines.
- Initiates and completes all necessary paperwork and prepares all shipments.
- Follows DOT requirements for shipping hazardous goods when loading, unloading and preparing shipments.
- Receives raw materials using forklift and distributes to production warehouses as needed.
- Collects paperwork from received materials and enters into database.
- Cleans and organizes warehouse for maximum efficiency by placing materials in appropriate areas and re-arranging to utilize space.
- Possess a basic knowledge of production procedures and processes.
- Perform monthly physical count and is responsible for inventory reconciliation and accuracy.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education Requires a high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
Experience Typically requires at least one year experience in warehouse, shipping, receiving experience.
Computer Skills Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products: Outlook to regularly check emails. Proficiency in Word/Excel for trainings, track, log or record information or assist with updates to written procedures. Needs to be able to independently navigate between websites and computer systems to access training sites, data management system. Typically has working knowledge of inventory management system (Dynamic SL desired).
Certifications & Licenses 1 year forklift experience. DOT training or successful completion of DOT training within 2 months is required.
Other Requirements Has typically used forklifts for 3-5 hour durations.

49CFR (DOT) - Shipments using Ground Transportation in the United States. How to safely transport hazardous materials by ground in the United States.
IMDG - Shipments using Ocean (vessel) Transportation. How to safely transport hazardous materials by vessel.
IATA - Shipments using Air Transportation. Also known as ICAO. How to safely transport hazardous materials by air.

Other Physical Requirements
Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): ANSI Z87+ Safety Glasses, gloves, hearing protection.
MENTAL OR VISUAL DEMAND
Continuous visual attention required in process of loading and unloading materials and goods to specified locations (warehouses, containers). Requires constant awareness of surroundings and attention to detail pulling orders and identifying any possible defects in inbound/outbound items. Visually comprehend long series of numbers when picking inventory.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position works primarily in a chemical manufacturing / warehouse environment with exposure to noise, occasional warm and cold temperatures. Some exposure to office area.
