DAMASCUS BAKERIES is a 3rd Generation Bakery founded in 1930. We have two baking facilities in Brooklyn, NY & Newark, NJ, with another facility being renovated in Clifton, NJ to open up 4th Qtr 2018. Our products include Pitas, Lavash, Wraps, Flatbreads, Pizza Crusts, Breadsticks, Sandwich Buns, and more. We have a very strong- and even historic- presence in the Metro New York market. Since 2000, we have expanded our capacity and distribution to the National Market, supplying and partnering with many of America's top QSR's, Casual Dining Restaurants, Food Service Establishments, Retail, Club and Natural Stores, Institutions, Distributors, and other Bakeries. For many of our customers, we have been the Product Development arm that has created some of America's most Successful and Award Winning Flatbreads.
We are an SQF Level 3 company that currently employs between 200 - 300 people, some who have been with us for more than 40 years. We are a company that thrives to "Bake a Difference". We are a company that is also responsible to its communities and environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Personnel
- Provide training for all warehouse personnel including job procedures, paperwork, inventory, safety, and GMPs. Verify accuracy of all data entry and paperwork turned in by the warehouse team.
- Provide input and feedback into the employee schedule. Execute against the schedule, calling in drivers and dispatchers or reducing hours as required.
- Organize people and equipment to maximize warehouse productivity.
- Perform annual employee evaluations. Identify potential for growth and training and improve on performance deficiencies.
- Participate in disciplinary action proceedings where needed.
- Ensure the proper training and safe utilization of all warehouse equipment, including the forklift, electric and manual pallet jacks, and the scissor lift.
- Materials
- Monitor physical inventory to ensure adequate supply to production at all times
- Coordinate material supply and any schedule changes
- Order material from suppliers and schedule deliveries
- Track trays and pallets returned from route drivers and customers
- Utilize PRIMS to record inventory movement.
- Perform weekly physical inventory of all material.
- Coordinate freezer inventory and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
- Facility
- Maintain orderliness of material storage areas
- Maintain proper sanitation of equipment and building
- Food Safety
- Maintain stock rotation
- Record lot numbers for traceability
- Clean and inspect stock to prevent infestation
- Ensure proper receiving guidelines are followed.
- Monitor storage conditions for proper temperatures
- Segregate allergens from non-allergens
- All other duties as assigned by management
