The Lead Person is to assist the Supervisor or Manager for the overall performance of the warehouse, and operations. The Lead Person plans, organizes, helps staff, directs, and controls the warehouse activities. The key responsibilities are assisting in the selection, training, and motivation of the workforce. The Lead Person is accountable for helping to achieve company objectives in regards to safe workplace, properly trained work force, labor cost efficiency, employee productivity, customer service, efficient storage, accuracy and clean food grade warehouse.
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversees facility material handler loaders and unloaders. Designates in concert with management priorities of unloading and loading of shipments.
- Has prior success building, leading and directing a team to meet business metrics.
- Ability to train team members in safe equipment operation and maintenance.
- Load inbound and outbound freight following all safety guidelines to minimize any possible damage of product during the transportation process to the customer.
- Assist with new receipts and unload incoming containers.
- Ensure standard operating procedures, preferred methods, and Company and facility policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Practice and adhere to established safety rules and policies, as well as established housekeeping standards for communal work areas and stock put ways.
- Safely operate assigned warehouse equipment in performing the functions of the job.
- Anticipate and prevent accidents. Comply with all safety rules and regulations. Immediately report ALL incidents, accidents, and personal injuries to the supervisor.
- Oversee daily inventory operations while controlling and managing movements of outbound, inbound and stock to stock transfer.
- Assist with Physical inventories and cycle counts.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required Skills:
- Minimum 2 years experience within distribution center
- Physical ability to perform essential functions of the job.
- Must be able to work flexible hours.
- Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Team player
- Attention to detail; accurate and thorough.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
- Ability to continually lift packages of up to 50 pounds.
- Must have computer skills and be familiar with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Teams.
- Physical activities required of this job include, but are not limited to, bending, carrying, climbing, crouching, feeling, finger movement, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, seeing, standing, sitting, stooping, talking, twisting and walking.
Work Environment:
Work is performed in a heated but un-air-conditioned warehouse. Employees may be exposed to cold, heat, damp, or humid conditions. Work around moving machinery, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, etc.
