Job Summary
The technologist is to efficiently operate diagnostic imaging equipment in a professional manner for medical diagnosis and treatment. This responsibility includes quality treatment to our patients. This also includes producing quality radiographs of designated portions of the human body, maintain accurate records of the radiographs, and being ever mindful of confidentiality, distribute reports of the examination findings to the patient's provider. The technologist is also responsible for communication with radiologists, physicians, patients, patient's families and other persons; and for performing relief and/or other project duties.
Job Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for the expedient care and compassionate treatment of each patient with whom he/she comes in contact
Report all suspected equipment failures to the department manager.
Have a working knowledge of all basic and special DI procedures performed at Summit Pacific Medical Center (SPMC).
Position patients accurately with the use of accessory devices as needed; instructs patients on breathing control and selects technical factors which are accurate, compensating accordingly for patient size, age, and mobility.
Perform all clerical procedures to include patient reception, charging, documentation, statistics, report posting and exam sign out procedures.
Occasional patient scheduling for Mammography, X-Ray, CT, MRI and ultrasound.
Utilize sound sterile technique, as required, to prevent contamination and/or cross contamination.
Participate in the department's Quality Assurance program and perform assigned Quality Control tasks.
Shall maintain patient confidentiality at all times both in the hospital and when off duty.
Shall conduct himself/herself with a professional bearing expected, always keeping in mind that he/she is a representative of SPMC and the DI department.
Shall maintain proficiency in his/her duties through participation in the various continuing education and in-service programs available.
Is required to know, understand, and abide by the policies and procedures of SPMC and the DI Department.
Attendance at department meetings and special meetings is required.
Return to the hospital, if needed, for disaster situations.
Required, as part of infection control of the department, to maintain cleanliness of the exam rooms on a daily and weekly basis as defined in the policy for infection control.
Will learn and enter patient information into the RIS.
Mammography technologists, will participate in maintaining mammography QC, ensure mammography follow-up letters are sent to patients, and follow the mammography program in it s entirety.
Stock supplies in all rooms as needed.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as may be required.

Required Education and Experience
Graduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology (24 months).
At least 1 year of mammography experience, required
Experience with 3D mammography, preferred
Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations
1. Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or an equivalent registry in Mammography. (With limit of one year from date of employment to acquire ARRT registration.)
2. Licensed by the Washington State Department of Health
3. RTRM certification
4. BLS required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
1. Comprehensive working knowledge of mammography equipment and how to properly care for this equipment. Ability to operate equipment according to established health and safety regulations following all policies, procedural guidelines and regulations.
2. Working knowledge of all basic and special DI procedures performed at Summit Pacific Medical Center (SPMC). Demonstrated ability to adapt exam to address problems of patient care as they arise and make timely and effective decisions to appropriately resolve problems.
3. Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development, and life stages to meet each patient s need
4. Proficient in the use of current technology, including Microsoft Office products. Ability to learn and effectively operate various computers and software programs, including PACS/RIS.
5. Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to identify and employ communication strategies appropriate to the audience.
6. Ability to cultivate effective partnerships and work in collaboration with providers, other health care professionals, managers, and patients.
7. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects and display flexibility in a fast paced and changing work environment.
8. Ability to work with basic office equipment such as telephones, copier, facsimiles, computers, etc.
9. Ability to work on-call shifts as assigned.
