About the Job
As the most senior sales leader in the California market, the Vice President of Sales will be instrumental in spearheading GumGum's market-leading contextual advertising platform across Los Angeles and the Bay Area. Reporting to the SVP of Sales, this pivotal role demands a seasoned sales executive with a proven track record of success in the online media landscape.
The VP of Sales will be responsible for leading and developing a high-performing sales team, fostering key relationships within the advertising community, and driving revenue growth through the successful adoption of GumGum's innovative solutions. This dynamic leadership position requires a deep understanding of the online media ecosystem, exceptional team management skills, and the ability to forge strategic partnerships that deliver tangible value to clients.
Note: GumGum fosters a flexible work environment, offering GumGummers the ability to work either in-office or remotely/from home. However, for occasional in-person collaboration, we kindly ask that this position be located within a 'commutable' distance to our office.
What You'll Achieve
- West (Los Angeles/Bay Area) Sales Team Leadership
- Cultivate High-Performance Teams: Foster a collaborative sales culture and oversee GumGum’s West Sales Team, ensuring productivity and inclusivity.
- Drive Talent Development: Recruit, onboard, and develop top sales talent, providing coaching and mentorship.
- Set and Achieve Goals: Translate sales strategies into actionable goals, implement performance management frameworks, and coach team members on account-based strategies.
- Champion Best Practices: Implement innovative sales methodologies to drive productivity and efficiency.
- Lead by Example: Exemplify GumGum's values and ethical leadership principles.
- Drive Revenue Growth for California
- Deliver on Revenue Targets: Achieve and exceed revenue targets for the West Region through proactive sales initiatives.
- Build Strategic Partnerships: Develop and nurture relationships with key agency contacts and clients.
- Generate New Business Opportunities: Identify and qualify sales opportunities from marketing leads and proactive prospecting.
- Expand Existing Client Relationships: Upsell current clients on new and existing products.
- Focus on Key Categories: Drive sales activation within key West Coast categories (Auto, Entertainment, QSR, Retail, Tech).
- Foster Client-Centricity: Communicate valuable client insights to internal Product teams.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with internal teams to ensure seamless client onboarding and campaign execution.
- Lead Strategic Initiatives: Collaborate with the North American Leadership Team on strategic sales initiatives.
Skills You'll Bring
- Bachelor's Degree in Media or Marketing/Advertising field
- 10+ years of digital advertising sales experience
- Experience managing a team delivering a large book of business ($15M+)
- Proven track record of hitting/exceeding sales targets
- Programmatic experience is a plus
- Proficient in Salesforce, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strategic relationship building with clients
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Quick problem-solving abilities
- Understanding of business drivers (P/L, Operating Statement, COGS, Revenue, etc.)
- Analytical skills for data interpretation
- Motivated, passionate about the product, and proactive

What We Offer
At GumGum, competitive base pay is a part of a total rewards package which also includes benefits, an emphasis on recognition, development, and wellness. The reasonable estimated base pay range for this role is from ($215,000 -$244,000) annually. The actual amount may be higher or lower. Individual compensation will vary based on factors including, but not limited to, relevant qualifications, work location, and labor market conditions.
The total rewards package offered also includes an employer-matched 401(k) retirement plan, and depending on the role, participation in a bonus, commission, or stock incentive program.
