MAPD Sales and Marketing Leader not just an agent
As the VP of Sales, you will play a critical role in shaping revenue growth and sales strategies specifically within the Medicare and health plan sectors. You will lead a high-performing sales team while personally driving revenue growth by managing key Medicare accounts and pursuing large, complex deals. This hands-on, producing role requires spearheading efforts to expand market share, build strong client relationships, and exceed ambitious sales targets within Medicare Advantage and related Medicare services. The ideal candidate has a proven track record in sales leadership and direct selling within the Medicare and health plan markets.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop, lead, and execute comprehensive sales strategies aimed at increasing market share and achieving aggressive revenue goals specifically in the Medicare Advantage and health plan sectors.
- Identify and capitalize on emerging trends in the Medicare market, leveraging data-driven insights to refine sales strategies and respond to competitive dynamics.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align sales objectives with the company’s broader business goals, providing input on Medicare product development, marketing, and operational strategies.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of sales directors, managers, and account executives focused on Medicare lines to foster a high-performance sales culture.
- Set clear performance expectations, providing coaching, feedback, and professional development opportunities to ensure continuous growth within the Medicare segment.
- Implement best practices for sales pipeline management, forecasting, and reporting, ensuring operational excellence and compliance with Medicare regulations.
Business Development:
- Actively prospect, develop, and close high-value Medicare opportunities, personally managing relationships with key Medicare Advantage accounts.
- Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with C-level executives at client organizations, becoming a trusted partner in the Medicare space.
- Lead negotiations on major Medicare deals, ensuring favorable terms and long-term value for both the company and its clients.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with product, operations, and marketing teams to ensure alignment between sales objectives and service delivery capabilities tailored to Medicare clients.
- Provide market feedback to influence Medicare product development and refine value propositions for current and future Medicare offerings.
- Partner with marketing to design and execute lead generation strategies, including targeted content, events, and digital campaigns specifically tailored to the Medicare audience.
Market Intelligence & Competitive Analysis:
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory developments within the Medicare space to identify new business opportunities and threats.
- Conduct regular market analysis and competitive benchmarking to ensure the sales strategy stays ahead of market shifts.
- Represent the company at industry conferences, networking events, and trade shows to increase brand visibility and generate Medicare-related leads.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 8+ years of progressive sales leadership experience, with at least 3+ years in a VP or similar role focused on Medicare or health plan sectors.
- Proven success as a “producing” sales leader, with a track record of personally closing large, complex Medicare deals.
- Deep understanding of the Medicare and health plan markets, including regulatory landscape, market drivers, and competitive dynamics.
- Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, mentor, and drive performance across a diverse sales team.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Experience working in a high-growth, fast-paced environment, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines.

- the individual’s skill sets, experience and training;
- licensure and certification requirements;
- office location and other geographic considerations;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
