About the Job
Our client is a well-known, cutting-edge fashion brand and e-commerce company. They are seeking a VP of Human Resources to run the day-to-day HR operations of the company’s distribution center, improve upon HR systems/processes/policies, recruitment and retention, employee engagement, and manage a large and growing team across the division.
This is an in-office position at our client's distribution center in Santa Fe Springs, CA.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of 12 HR professionals in their day-to-day HR duties in supporting approximately 2500 employees
- Oversee workers’ compensation, medical and other leave and accommodation requests, and safety departments
- Design and execute effective recruitment and retention strategies to support operations’ high-volume staffing needs
- Enhance policies and procedures that effectively streamline the HR department’s time-consuming tasks, while simultaneously delivering value-added results for operations
- Partner closely with operation teams in day-to-day matters, employee relations, employee engagement, management training, recruiting, policy adherence, cultural initiatives, and more
- Translate DC environment vision, provide expert advice and coaching to employees and management, and have a solution-oriented approach to solving complex matters
- Work collaboratively with the legal team in evaluating complex employment matters, including worker’s compensation, wage and hour law compliance, DOL wage order compliance, and safety
- Implement ongoing training, mentorship, and manager-level programs to further develop talent
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree, required
- 15+ years of relevant human resources experience, with at least 5 in a people leadership role within a large distribution center environment
- Experience working with both exempt and non-exempt populations
- Comfort working with staffing firms and diverse management teams
- Fashion, retail, or consumer products background, a plus
- Ability to come up with creative solutions to complex problems
- Strong understanding of California labor laws and prior experience with wage and hour, leave and accommodation requests under the ADA and state counter-part laws, and worker’s compensation matters
- Ability to draft well-structured, complete, and concise communications
- Roll-up-sleeves style with an ability to get in the weeds as needed
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and quality control
Compensation: Targeting a base of $200-275k
