GLAAD operates with support from foundations, corporations, and individuals from every corner of the United States. Our highly skilled team of more than 60 staff works out of our Headquarters in New York, Los Angeles, and remotely.
THE OPPORTUNITY
GLAAD is seeking a proven, entrepreneurial, and exceptionally resourceful fundraising and development professional to help shape and significantly advance GLAAD’s institutional giving program to contribute to GLAAD’s overall annual fundraising goal of $20M for fiscal year 2024. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the VP of Foundation Giving will play a pivotal role in cultivating meaningful and long-term relationships with private, family, community, and corporate foundations as well as government agencies resulting in $3+M + annually from this network of current and newly engaged partners committed to issues impacting the LGBTQ community. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a fast-paced, collaborative, and creative fundraising team forging new directions and approaches that push the bar on driving revenues to support the critically important work of GLAAD.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Build and lead a high-impact institutional giving acquisition and engagement strategy involving cultivating a broad network of current and new relationships across the community of private, family, community, and corporate foundations.
Conduct active research across a diverse range of institutional funding sources to identify potential compatibility and interest in GLAAD's work, including analysis of past, current, and prospective supporters and partners.
As an ambassador of the organization, conceive of new and innovative relationship-building approaches to attract new prospects that gain interest and enthusiasm for the work of GLAAD.
Collaborate with the GLAAD Board, leadership team, professional staff, and volunteer committees to understand funding priorities and develop a roadmap for targeting potential institutional funders to address these needs.
Serve as the primary relationship manager for all institutional funders and partners keeping them apprised of GLAAD’s work and successes on an ongoing basis through site visits and on-going briefings.
Serve as a significant thought partner and contributor on all institutional grant proposals, report submissions, and grant solicitations, and position the organization, through these activities, for ongoing and new support from institutional funders.
Liaise with other departments to deliver compelling and impactful proposals and report packages.
Identify and apply for government funding opportunities when appropriate.
Identify and implement meaningful engagement opportunities for institutional funders to sustain their interest and long-term support of GLAAD.
Provide direction, oversight, and supervision of the Grant Writer prioritizing key projects and deliverables to accomplish with GLAAD’s existing and prospective institutional partners.
Manage institutional giving calendar and ensure adherence to all deadlines and deliverables. Oversee the budget including expenses and revenue generation related to all institutional giving initiatives and relationships. Utilize CRM to track and monitor all pledges and payments. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports tracking key performance indicators and the financial results of institutional giving activities for review by the Finance Department and Senior Leadership Team. May be assigned other related duties and responsibilities by the Chief Development Officer and President/CEO

EXPERIENCE | EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
Master’s Degree preferred
Minimum of 10 years of fundraising experience with a prominent, high-profile nonprofit organization supported by a proven track record of cultivating relationships with a diverse network of private, family, community, and corporate foundations and securing grants in $100K$1M range
Deep understanding and knowledge of the national community of institutional funders supporting social impact issues and programs in the LGBTQ community

Flexible and willing to travel and work alternative schedules as needed

Compensation
A competitive salary commensurate with experience is $150,000-$170,000. Benefits include 403(b) retirement plan participation; escalating vacation beginning with 19 days plus holidays; and organization-paid health benefits, including medical, dental, vision, healthcare, and dependent options; flex spending accounts; and life and long-term disability insurance.
