Role: VP of Finance
Location: San Diego, CA (in-office)
Salary: $155,000-$180,000 / yr + stock options, 401k matching, and other benefits.
Role Overview: Seasats is now offering products and services around the globe. To support this ambitious growth, we’re searching for an experienced finance professional who is excited to develop and own effective financial systems. In this role, you would drive day-to-day impacts on company operations by helping analyze, strategize, and improve our financial management. Additionally, as part of our leadership team, you would provide strategic input on fundraising and other critical company efforts.
About You:
You’re a seasoned strategist but not afraid to roll up your sleeves. You possess both a deep understanding of accounting and finance practices and the ability to adapt to change as Seasats continues to grow. You’re prepared to be a part of our senior management, presenting to our board, joining product roadmap discussions, analyzing supply chain needs, and everything in between. Additionally, you likely have:
- Applicable experience in a senior financial management position.
- Excellent leadership skills, steadfast resolve, and personal integrity.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills.
- An advanced understanding of accounting, regulatory, and tax issues.
- Working knowledge of various funding options.
- Interest in technology products.
Bonus points if you have:
- A master’s degree, CPA, or other certification in business accounting or finance.
- Experience with US government accounting audits.
- International finance experience.
- Experience in investor relations or M&A.
- Executive experience with SaaS business models and their associated revenue recognition.
- Experience with manufacturing, hardware, or technology companies.
Role Details:
In this role, you will take responsibility for all cash management, insurance, budgeting, and financial reporting. As the resident expert on these subjects, you will help drive the company’s financial strategy and inform its hiring and investment plans. Some specific objectives include:
- Develop and report annual operating, capital, and program budgets.
- Maintain day-to-day oversight of accounting, recording, reporting, and internal controls to ensure spending and cash flow mesh appropriately.
- Refine Seasats' financial systems to achieve GAAP compliance.
- Work with internal and external teams to complete federal and state tax filings.
- Develop and implement best practices and tools to ensure a well-controlled yet flexible organization that has strong fiscal management, project coordination, and cross-team communications.
- Monitor and maintain compliance with all relevant financial requirements.
- Develop pricing strategies for Seasats’ solutions.
- Develop documentation as required for proposals.
Day-to-day, you may:
- Work with senior managers to develop budget proposals, supply project finance information, and ensure contract compliance and reporting.
- Work with engineering and manufacturing teams to analyze internal operations and identify areas for cost reduction or process enhancement.
- Leverage tracking tools to monitor business performance, generate reports for internal and external stakeholders, and create recommendations as needed.
- Manage finance systems and oversee financial IT systems, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory entities (e.g. Financial Accounting Standards Board, Internal Revenue Service, state attorneys general).
- Compete in weekly games of HORSE or share your latest pet pictures.
- Drive or support capital structure and fundraising initiatives when appropriate.
- Perform or prepare for financial audits.
