The successful candidate will be a strategic individual with 5+ years of managerial accounting and financial management experience in a non-profit setting. The VP of Administration & CFO will be a hands-on and participative manager and will lead and develop an internal team to support the following areas: finance, business planning and budgeting, human resources, administration, and IT.

Job Details:
We are searching for a dedicated and experienced Vice President of Administration & Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our non-profit organization. The successful candidate will be a strategic individual with 5+ years of managerial accounting and financial management experience in a non-profit setting. The VP of Administration & CFO will be a hands-on and participative manager and will lead and develop an internal team to support the following areas: finance, business planning and budgeting, human resources, administration, and IT.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures.
- Coordinate all audit activities.
- Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of the organization’s financial status.
- Assist the organization's leadership in the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
- Oversee all financial, project/program and grants accounting; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period.
- Manage organizational cash flow forecasting by working in partnership with the program vice presidents; continuously collaborate with program vice presidents to assess the financial efficacy of program operations and establish finance and administrative systems to support program operations.
- Manage and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines.
- Leverage the finance and accounting team to improve financial procedures.
- Lead the organization's HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, compliance with labor laws, and HR policies and procedures development.
- Work closely with the board of directors, providing them with professional advice and ensuring all legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitor compliance with laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a BA; CPA and/or MBA preferred.
- At least 5 years of overall professional experience; ideally 6+ years of broad financial and operations management experience in a non-profit setting.
- The ideal candidate has experience of final responsibility for the quality and content of all financial data, reporting and audit coordination for either a division or significant program area.
- Ability to translate financial concepts and to effectively collaborate with programmatic and fundraising colleagues who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds.
- A track record in grants management as it relates to compliance and reporting of government, corporate and foundation grants is essential.
- Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors; advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software.
- Commitment to training programs that maximize individual and organization goals across the organization including best practices in human resources activities.
- A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which support and enable sound decision making.
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- A multi-tasker with the ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment.
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of the organization.
- Experience with Tessitura or similar systems is strongly preferred.
