The Role
AXS is seeking a VP, Legal Counsel to join our team in Los Angeles, CA. This position reports to the General Counsel. The responsibilities will include preparing, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of legal documents, resolving disputes, supervising outside counsel, and intellectual property protection and ensure compliance with international, federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
What Will You Do?
- Serve as legal advisor to the General Counsel on all key business transactions and legal matters for AXS and its subsidiaries.
- Prepare, review, and assist in negotiations on all varieties of legal documents including commercial contracts, master service agreements, API licenses, sponsorship agreements, employment related agreements, vendor/service agreements, consulting agreements, leases, finance documents, and legal correspondence, and drafting form contracts.
- Develop and implement compliance strategies, including privacy, data rights, and data security best practices and planning, draft data privacy agreements and data sharing agreements, consult with company stakeholders regarding data privacy.
- Advise in the areas of employment practices, human resources, and general business practice compliance.
- Update AXS.com Purchase Agreement, Terms of Use, and Privacy Policies, and FAQs to reflect changes to business operations and privacy laws.
- Supervise outside counsel on matters requiring representation such as litigation, arbitration, and disputes.
- Supervise Data Privacy Officer and Supervise Legal Assistant.
- Keep current on industry-wide legal trends and developments, and legislation regarding ticketing.
What Will You Bring?
- 10+ years of experience in entertainment, intellectual property, privacy and/or IT law preferred.
- License to practice law, in good standing with the State Bar and have the ability to practice law in California. California bar membership preferred.
- Undergraduate degree, and Juris Doctor Degree from an ABA-accredited law school required.
- Concrete understanding of contract and corporate law, intellectual property, and business transactional principles.
- Strong interpersonal skills including ability to communicate effectively with a variety of contacts, including outside attorneys, senior management, and business associates.
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills; creative problem solver; efficient; excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and ability to learn required business systems.
- Must be able to work a flexible and dynamic work schedule that accommodates the needs and demands of the stakeholders.
- High level of personal integrity and professional ethics.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing business conditions.
Pay Scale: $151,704- $239,173
