Role Summary/Purpose:
The VP, Data Governance Program Manager will be responsible for supporting the execution of the Synchrony Financial data management strategy including the development and implementation of data management programs and projects in support of that strategy.
The individual will collaborate with Business and IT Leaders, Data Management process owners, data architects, external suppliers and other stakeholders in the development and integration of data management programs, processes and standards across the organization.

Essential Responsibilities:
+ Maintain the accuracy of data management policies, standards and procedures supporting the effective sharing, protection, and use of sensitive data
+ Provide guidance and support to ensure that data management policies, standards and procedures are communicated and well understood
+ Provide data governance platform support for Synchrony's enterprise data catalog
+ Oversees data stewardship onboarding, training and communications
+ Organizes quarterly engagement sessions with data trustees and data stewards on best practices and effective use of data management tools
+ Works in partnership with the Data Governance Leader to refine and evaluate the data stewardship plan each year; assessing gaps in stewardship practices and identifying opportunities for growth or realignment
+ Ensures process rigor and adherence with the project management methodologies and the PMO processes and standards
+ Ensures compliance with the data management methodologies and the Data Office processes and standards
+ Assists data management process owners and the Chief Data Officer in the operational execution of on-going program logistics including the development of presentation materials
+ Facilitates and documents data management governance meetings and processes
+ Creates, communicates, and closely manages project plans, risks and issues, and other required project documentation and provides updates/project status as required
+ Ensures successful adoption of data management capabilities and controls (on time, on budget, and ensuring quality)
+ Maintains project documentation, including project charter, requirements, conceptual design, test plans, schedules, and presentations
+ Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
+ Bachelor's Degree, OR in lieu of a Degree, High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of 9 years of project/program management experience
+ 7+ years of progressive work experience to include:
+ 5+ years of project and/or program management experience to include working on gathering business need requirements, planning and defining business solutions
+ 5+ years of experience using data management platforms
+ 3+ years of experience working on data-related projects involving various business functions
Desired Characteristics:
+ Superior verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate progress and manage expectations of the business, clients, team members, management and external groups through presentations, dashboards, and other direct interactions
+ Working knowledge of data management concepts, processes, and current technologies
+ Knowledge of data management and project management tools such as Collibra, Ab Initio, and Jira
+ Awareness of Compliance and Regulatory requirements for data
+ Ability to convey complex data policies, standards and procedures into language that resonates with the business and administer through training and facilitation of working groups
+ Strong analytical and technical mindset used to drive data requirements, testing and production validation
+ Demonstrated competency with linking business strategy with IT technology initiatives
+ Experience with Agile software development methodology
+ Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment in managing multiple and sometimes competing projects while adhering to our PMO standards
+ Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain a high degree of diplomacy and professionalism
+ Self-motivated, proactive, flexible, and dependable
+ Strong business acumen
+ Demonstrated ability to drive change and work effectively across business boundaries
Grade/Level: 12
The salary range for this position is 110,000.00 - 185,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.
Eligibility Requirements:
+ You must be 18 years or older
+ You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
+ You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
+ You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
+ New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
