Are you an accounting expert passionate about leading a team to success while driving accuracy, compliance, and innovation in a growing credit union? We're looking for a dynamic Vice President/Controller to steer our accounting and financial reporting functions, ensuring timely and precise information flows to senior management, the Board, and regulatory bodies. Position Responsibilities
- Lead Financial Reporting & Compliance: Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements with a focus on GAAP, NCUA, and other regulatory requirements. Deliver timely, accurate reports to the Board and senior leadership.
- Forensic Accounting & Investigation: Conduct thorough forensic accounting investigations to identify discrepancies, fraud, and financial misstatements. Provide detailed reports and recommendations for corrective actions.
- GL Reconciliation & Cleanup: Lead efforts to clean up unreconciled general ledgers, ensuring all accounts are accurately balanced and discrepancies are resolved promptly.
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Implementation: Develop and implement robust SOPs for GL reconciliation processes to ensure ongoing accuracy and compliance. Train staff on these procedures to maintain consistency and prevent future discrepancies.
- Inspire Team Leadership & Development: Supervise and mentor a team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning in financial reporting, accounts payable/receivable, and compliance.
- Strengthen Internal Controls: Implement and monitor controls to safeguard our financial assets and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, including BSA/AML.
- Optimize Financial Systems & Integration: Champion the use of Fiserv Prologue and other key financial tools, managing system integrations to enhance operational efficiency.
- Champion Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and refine accounting processes for enhanced accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with evolving regulations.
- Drive Budgeting & Forecasting: Oversee the budget process, develop long-term forecasts, and lead variance analysis. Collaborate with department heads to ensure financial goals align with our strategic vision.
- Cash Management & Federal Reserve Settlements: Oversee daily settlements with the Federal Reserve, ensuring smooth transactions and robust liquidity management.
- ALM & Risk Management Expertise: Produce insightful ALM reports, monitor key risk metrics, and serve as the ALCO liaison, aligning IRSA, NEV, and profitability with strategic objectives.
- Support Audit & Regulatory Compliance: Manage audit processes, maintain compliance with NCUA, and lead responses to auditor inquiries.
Experience:
- 5-10 years in a similar financial role, with at least 3 years of supervisory experience in the credit union or banking industry.
- Experience with financial systems (Fiserv Prologue preferred) and familiarity with Federal Reserve settlement processes.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; relevant work experience may also be considered.

- Leadership: Proven team leader, skilled in mentoring and building strong financial teams.
- Communication: Ability to present complex financial data clearly to all levels of the organization.
- Tech Savvy: Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with general ledger systems.
- Process Improvement Mindset: Demonstrated ability to enhance financial processes for efficiency and compliance.
