Vice President Assistant General Counsel - LitigationAssistant General Counsel is responsible for working on a broad range of complex legal issues related to employment, including without limitation to litigation and risk management, advice and counseling, legal research and compliance related matters. ResponsibilitiesPerforms all aspects of legal services in assigned areas of legal specialization and is primarily responsible for developing and representing the organization's legal positions in such areas as:Provides input and legal advice on business strategy, strategic plan development and implementation and other business issues including legal assessments, solutions-oriented risk mitigation strategies and messagingHandles a wide variety of claims by or against the organization that may include civil litigation, administrative hearings, arbitrations, contract claims, collection matters, and related discovery and depositionsCollaborates and provides advice and counsel to other Advantage executives on employee matters and on investigationsStrategically manages outside counsel in the representation of the organizationAnalyzes and assists with maintaining forms and agreement templates up-to-date with respect to applicable laws and best practicesMay review, develop or implement company-wide and/or functionally specific training and compliance programs, andKeeps current on legislative issues, statutes, decisions and ordinances of quasi-judicial bodiesAccountable for the supervision, training and development of direct reports including conducting performance reviewsQualificationsJuris Doctorate Degree from and ADA accredited law school, excellent academic achievement and a member of the State Bar, and currently in good standing8+ years as Practicing Attorney with experience in a law firm and in-house experienceAbility to ensure high levels of service and quality are maintainedExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong prioritization skillsAbility to work effectively with ManagementTrack record of building and maintaining customer/client relationshipsAbility to work independently and prioritize with minimal supervision in order to meet deadlinesBasic computer skills including MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Outlook and web browsers
