About the Job
The Volunteer Coordinator (VC) is responsible for building engagement and developing growth in the member community by managing volunteers and peer leaders at the Peer Recovery Support Center (PRSC). The VC will also administer the volunteer stipend program and work with program and agency staff to ensure proper distribution and accurate reporting of stipends.
Duties:
The VC is responsible for the recruiting, retention, supervision, training, and scheduling of PRSC volunteers and peer leaders from the PRSC member community.
The VC will work with volunteers interested in peer leadership roles to identify any barriers to growth and develop plans to assist volunteers with achieving their goals.
The VC will supervise the Peer Leader Supervisor by offering feedback and guidance to enable success and personal development.
The VC will assist the members, volunteers, peer leaders, and Assistant Program Director in creating the schedule of weekly and monthly activities selected by the member community.
The VC will transport the members, volunteers and peer leaders to both community events and monthly activities.
The VC will participate in activities and outings chosen by members which might be physical in nature (i.e. walks, hikes, other events).
The VC will manage the volunteer stipend program by working with the Program Director and agency business office to coordinate proper distribution and accurate reporting of stipends.
The VC shall network and represent Leominster PRSC in the community and will conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the values and professional standards of the agency.
The VC will attend all mandatory meetings and trainings.
The VC shall perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
Qualifications: The successful candidate should be a person in long term recovery (1 year or more) from a substance use disorder and possess a HS diploma (or equivalent). Candidates should have experience managing schedules and/or events in a busy environment. The candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, be able to establish strong relations, and be able to engender a sense of community amongst diverse groups of people. The VC must have proficiency in the use of technology such as Microsoft Office and social media/web platforms. Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to transport members, volunteers, and peer leaders. Candidates must have and be willing to use a personal mobile phone. Candidates with bilingual skills will be granted additional consideration.
