About the Job
The Visitation Specialist provides supportive services to the Child Welfare cases under the direction of the Supervisor.
This position transports children and biological parents to necessary appointments and visits. This position also supervises visits and documents notes and performs additional needs as related to the Child Welfare Department.
Wage Range: $18.00 - $20.70 Hourly

- Upholds the confidentiality of the clients served.
- Collaborates with FC Specialists and supervisors to schedule visits.
- Transports children and/or families in the Child Welfare Program.
- Completes transportation logs.
- Coordinates and supervises visits for biological parents and children in the Child Welfare Program.
- Attends case review meetings, Family Team Meetings (FTM), and case conferences to maximize coordination and continuity of services for the foster children as needed.
- Transports client case paperwork to court.
- Follows all expectations as written in Catholic Charities West Michigan transportation policy / safe driving practice.
- Ensures safety of children through the proper use of car seats and seat belts.
- Maintains and clean agency vehicles/car seats on a weekly basis.
- Maintains and cleans visit areas daily.
- Coordinates routine maintenance of Agency vehicles.
- Provides supervision and written documentation of parenting time visits.
- Files paperwork and conducts concurrent audit reviews of client case records.
- Keep records of daily tasks/duties for monthly statistics.
- Attends program meetings as required.
- Drives for Agency business.
- Performs other special assignments at supervisor’s request.
- Ability and willingness to transport clients within a large geographic area
- Flexibility to work non-traditional hours
- Ability to manage and organize schedules
- Efficient in time management and multi-tasking
- Ability to relate to diverse populations and cultures while communicating with clients in a courteous and effective manner both orally and in writing
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficient in related computer applications including Microsoft Office
- Ability to document client interactions and parenting skills
- Strong conflict management skills
- Proficient knowledge of computers, smartphones, GPS, and online calendars
- Ability to identify the safety needs of a child and maintain that as a priority daily
Education:
- A High school diploma, GED, or Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or a Human Service related area preferred.
Experience:
- A minimum of one-year experience working with children and families preferred.

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
