The Marketing office serves as a full service, integrated marketing firm supporting all of the district’s departments, network offices and selected schools. Our work includes developing marketing strategies, building marketing assets, and managing marketing projects and campaigns covering brand, collateral, advertising, websites, social media, videos, events, and other marketing tactics.
Job Summary:
Reporting directly to the Director, Marketing, the Video Producer will manage a team of five or more freelance videographers, overseeing their scheduling while planning and coordinating all video shoots. They will also serve as a lead consultant to district departments, networks and schools on how to create and use dynamic video content to drive educational outcomes, family engagement, program participation and enrollment demand. The Video Producer will schedule this team of freelance videographers and handle all logistical planning and budgeting for video shots, as well as coordinating the efforts of videographers onsite. The Video Producer will also be the lead consultant with clients to help them plan and define the best video concept for the project.
The Video Producer will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain all operational strategies, processes, and templates used in the video production work cycle
- Lead video planning sessions with clients and create video production proposals based on their stated requirements
- Develop scripts and storyboards, forecast resources, and select optimal forms of media for projects
- Develop production schedules and budgets
- Scout, select and reserve shoot locations
- Secure all necessary equipment, permits, approvals and site access permissions for filming days
- Select, assign and manage the schedules of staff and freelance videographers
- Coordinate and lead video subject interviews during filming
- Provide guidance to designers to guide the development, placement and integration of static and motion graphics into videos
- Review rough cuts and provide editing guidance to videographers through final cut
- Coordinate status reporting, screening and video feedback gathering sessions with clients
- Manage distribution and public posting of final videos on social media, on the CPS or school websites, through email, or for viewing during events.
- Manage video footage library in digital asset management system including raw footage, b-roll and final cut indexing and tagging
- Create and manage training and professional development activities for videographers
In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the Video Producer must possess the following qualifications:
Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, required
Experience Required:
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience working for a marketing or creative industry agency, in-house department, or large organization
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to lead videographers, motion graphics producers and other marketing personnel in the planning, writing, filming and editing of videos across the following formats:
- Short Form Interviews w/B-Roll
- Long Form Interviews w/B-Roll
- Promo/Hype Reals
- Sports Clips
- School Activity B-Roll
- Event Summary Recap
- Process Screen Capture
- Training LMS Content
- Spanish language skills a plus
Conditions of Employment
As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to:
- Establish/Maintain Chicago Residency -Employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district. The Chicago residency requirement does not apply to temporary/part-time positions, however, all CPS employees must be residents of Illinois.
- Be Fully Vaccinated Against COVID-19 -Unless approved for a medical or religious exemption, all employees are required to be up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccinations, including boosters, and to submit proof of vaccination to the district within 30 days of hire. “Up-to-date” on vaccination is defined as being at least two weeks past all primary vaccine doses and any applicable boosters.
