Reporting to the Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, the Vice Provost for Global Engagement and Services (VPGES) works with the Office of the Provost leadership, schools, and other units across the institution to support initiatives, projects, and other scholarly activity relevant to Emory's engagement in global and international affairs. The Vice Provost for Global Engagement and Services is a key leadership role within the Office of the Provost responsible for advancing international engagement at the institutional level, fostering global partnerships, and supporting Emory's faculty, staff, and students with international interests. RESPONSIBILITIES: + Collaborates closely with academic and administrative units to ensure that Emory's international programs and support services align with Emory's mission, institutional priorities, and values. + Oversees the administration of global/international programs, international student services, global research collaborations, and faculty-led initiatives. + Provides oversight for these departments: International Student and Scholar Services, Halle Institute for Global Research, Global Services, Global Safety and Security and Atlanta Global Partnerships. + Collaborates with the Provost and University leaders on Emory University's global approach, in alignment with the institution's mission, vision, and strategic goals. + Partners with the Office of Advancement and Alumni Engagement on international matters related to donors, initiatives, and programs. + Collaborates closely with academic deans, Vice Provosts, department chairs, faculty, and other key stakeholders to strengthen Emory's student engagement efforts, including study abroad programming and international student recruitment and belonging efforts. + Supports faculty efforts in their international scholarship. + Maintains partnerships with international institutions, organizations, and governmental agencies to support collaborative research, academic exchange, and other initiatives, including increasing master's degree enrollment through international partnership efforts. + Promotes cross-cultural understanding and sensitivity across the university community through training programs, workshops, and other educational initiatives. + Manages the budget and resources allocated to international engagement activities, ensuring efficient and effective use of financial resources. + Strengthens the financial profile through international engagement and student recruiting efforts. + Ensures compliance with relevant US and International laws, regulations, and institutional policies related to international activities. + Mitigates risks associated with international engagement efforts, including ensuring the safety of students and scholars while traveling abroad. + Serves as a spokesperson and advocate for Emory's international engagement efforts, both internally and externally, representing the university in various forums and events. + Communicates Emory's global reach in research and education. + Collects and analyzes data related to global engagement activities in alignment with Emory's data governance program, and prepares reports for university leadership, accrediting bodies, and other stakeholders. + Stays abreast of trends and best practices in global higher education, and provide guidance and support to faculty, staff, and students engaged in international activities. + Performs related responsibilities as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: + A terminal degree in Higher Education Administration, International Studies, or related field. + Significant experience in international education, global affairs, or related fields, preferably in a higher education setting. + Ability to travel domestically and internationally, as required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders. + Demonstrated leadership ability, with a track record of successful program development, implementation, or management. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: + Experience living, studying, or working abroad. Familiarity with internationalization frameworks and accreditation standards in higher education. + Proficient in language facilitation. NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion.
