We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Vice President, Solution Architect to join our Data Solution and Services Platform team. This role is in Lake Mary, FL or Pittsburgh, PA – (HYBRID)
The ideal candidate must have significant financial services experience within the banking industry, specifically in one or more of the following domains:
- Asset Servicing: Global Custody, Fund Accounting, Middle-Office Solutions
- Issuer Services: Depository Receipts, Global Capital Markets
- Clearance and Collateral Management: Securities Clearance, Equity, Fixed Income
- Markets: Global Markets Trading, Liquidity and Finance, or Buy-Side Trading Solutions
- Structured Debt: Asset-back securities, collateral debt
- Credit Services: Securities-backed Lending, Credit Solutions
- Treasury Services: Liquidities Management, Trade Finance and Processing, Clearing and Settlement
In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
- Delivery of high-quality architecture and design solutions that complies with bank policies.
- Work with the architecture community, application development teams, infrastructure engineering, and other stakeholders in developing technology and business solutions.
- Strategize and contribute to enterprise level technical initiatives on architecture and design.
- In addition to the individual contributor primary responsibilities shown below, may also have managerial responsibilities such as recruits, directs, motivates and develops staff, maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth and their ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team.
- Ensure high quality delivery of the company’s architecture and design services. Defines the target state architecture for domain-specific initiatives.
- Lead research, definition and implementation of architecture governance and design disciplines for business solutions. Defines and promotes common architecture designs, methodology, standards, and patterns across the enterprise.
- Strive to drive more value out of the bank’s information technology assets. Designs stable and flexible high-performance solutions, maximizing reuse and avoiding redundancy.
- Provides architecture consulting services on more complex issues throughout the enterprise.
- contributes to the achievement of multiple teams’ objectives.
- Primary Responsibilities in a group leadership role as a Solution Architect:
- Lead the definition and high-level design of an architectural solution for a specific Platform; develop proof-of-concepts and explore alternatives to help pods to make architectural decisions; be involved in planning and budgeting activities
- Synchronize architectural solution(s) across pods and resolve differences and dependencies; manage interdependencies with architectural solutions of Platforms
- Coordinate with other Platform Group Leads to create reusable and scalable architectural components within the technical roadmap
- Monitor and report the status of projects and applications within the Platform to ensure alignment with strategic direction from Architecture Lead as well as industry standards and best practices
- Ensure solutions and designs are compliant with technology domain architecture as defined by the Architecture Lead
- Aggregate and analyze architecture related operational reports, KPIs and KRIs for the Platform
- Provide guidance to technology teams and business partners in understanding the architectural options and technology choices that account for cost, risk, and time to delivery while leveraging strategic enterprise assets
- Anticipate architectural issues / gaps and identifies emerging industry trends (i.e. future focused)
- Collaborate/ Partner with other Platform Group Leads to ensure smooth navigation of change management tollgates, particularly Permit to Build (architectural design peer review process)
- The Candidate is expected not only to drive Architecture Decisions within Group but also expected to Operate across Platforms, collaborating with Engg leads/Product Leads driving Commercial, Resiliency Outcomes
- The Candidate is expected to bring a level of expertise that only is gathered from long industry experience (minimally 15+ years) to influence solutioning
- This role is expected to provide the solution architecture for the group by collaborating with multiple teams such as engineering, architecture, infrastructure etc., and bring Technology Acumen and Gravitas that can only be found with years of Industry Experience in Solutioning across varied Technology Ecosystems.
- Target State Architecture for DSS includes complex integrations across multiple consumer applications and types of data. It involves cutting-edge technologies or emerging trends as well as high levels of regulatory compliance and security requirements. We are looking for a seasoned architect who has hands on experience with multiple data platforms, distributed stack, on-premises, hybrid as well as cloud based.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required.
- 12+ years of experience in technology and architecture roles (distributed stack) required; experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.

- Knowledge of BNY applications, Bank standards, infrastructure, and architectural design / solutions
- Experience working on solutions that span across multiple business units or products
- Experience in agile development preferred
